Day 1: Walk to the Old Town Square, view the ‘must see’ Astronomical Clockand visit the beautiful Gothic Church of Our Lady Before Tyn or the baroque Church of St Nicholas. From there, head to the Charles Bridge and take some beautiful photos. Next, climb up to the imposing Prague Castle, where St Vitus Cathedral, the Golden Lane and the Royal Garden await. If you are tired of walking, you might take a tram up the hill and walk to the castle from the other side. When you get hungry, make your way back to Malostranske square and have a traditional Czech meal at one of the numerous pubs and restaurants.

Day 2: The second day is good for ‘laid back’ exploring or a leisurely walk along the river. From the Old Town Sq. walk to the Josefov, visit the Jewish museum, have a coffee at Slavia Café or at the Imperial Café. In the afternoon do some shopping around Wenceslas Square. In the evening you could have a few pints of world famous Czech beer at the U Pinkasu pub, or if you like classical music you might attend a concert at the Rudolfinum.

Museums/ Attractions: Main attractions and museums are typically open Tuesday through Sunday 10am-18:00pm, but there are some exceptions (like Jewish Museum’s synagogue is closed on Saturday)

Dance/Night Clubs: in the city centre are usually open every day from 10:00pm – 03/05:00am(usually close earlier on weekdays). Hit the town on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night when bars and discos are often open until the early hours. Restaurants and Cafes: are generally open from 11:00am – 23:00pm/24:00pm.

Pubs / Beer Halls: most pubs open before lunch and close at around 10:00pm or 11:00pm.

Bars: Opening hours vary, but it is not unusual to find bars closing early in the morning and opening late afternoon. Some even do not close.

Bellevue Restaurant – Located close to the river, another attraction of Bellevue are the good views of Charles Bridge and across to Prague Castle. At night, the seats by the window offer fine views of both these impressive sights. While the menu is exquisite, offering wonderfully prepared fresh fish, meat and sumptuous desserts, the wine list is worth particular mention. For a tamer but extraordinary treat, try the filet of fallow deer. Al dente pastas share a plate with lobster-and-spinach purée, garlic and herbs, or tomatoes and olives. The vegetables on the side are always fresh and never overcooked. (close to underground station Staromestska – Old Town, main dish 590-890 CZK, rating expensive)

Kavárna Imperial – fabulous coffee shop with a great decorated interior, wonderfully atmospheric place for a few drinks, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings when jazz bands are on. Or try cake and coffee in the morning. (close to underground station Namesti Republiky, rating inexpensive)
