The Powder Gate, a significant symbol of Prague, is marking an important anniversary this year.
In honor of this milestone, Prague City Tourism has organized an entire year of activities, with the major events set to commence in March.
This celebration will highlight a significant event since the foundation stone of the tower was laid, providing visitors with an exceptional chance to experience this historic monument in innovative ways.
Discounted Entry and Special Multi-Ticket Offer
From March 19 to March 23, individuals who possess the Lítačka card can enter the Powder Gate for a nominal fee of merely 55 CZK.
Furthermore, a unique multi-ticket priced at 220 CZK will allow access to four historic towers along the Royal Route: the Powder Gate, Old Town Bridge Tower, Lesser Town Bridge Tower, and the Old Town Hall Tower—all overseen by Prague City Tourism.
“The 550th anniversary of the Powder Gate serves as a fantastic opportunity to showcase its historical significance through an engaging program,” remarked Jiří Pospíšil, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Tourism. “We aim for Prague’s residents to delve into and appreciate their city’s rich heritage, which is why we have specifically designed these events for them.”
Exclusive Anniversary Events and Special Collectibles
The anniversary festivities will include unique partnerships with local Prague artists, featuring a limited-edition postage stamp crafted by illustrator Vojtěch Šeda, special commemorative pendants created by Danchez from the Drawetc studio, and an illustrated map by author Alena Ježková.
To kick off the celebrations, a special guided tour will be offered, led by Karel Kučera, a curator of Prague’s towers. Attendees will receive an insider’s view of recent restoration findings and learn about the hidden tales locked within the stone walls of the Powder Gate.
