Get Ready for an Epic Splash! Red Bull Kolo Molo Splashes into Prague for Its Debut!
Wild inventions, imaginative outfits, excitement on the water, and an explosion of summer fun!
On Saturday, June 21, Prague will host the inaugural Red Bull Kolo Molo, transforming the Vltava River into a thrilling cycling challenge. Speed, flair, and flawless handling will be essential—because a single misstep could lead to an impressive splash into the river.
This event draws inspiration from a successful Dutch initiative that first took place in The Hague in 2023.
Teams of two will create and construct their own tandem bicycles to traverse a demanding floating course on the Vltava River. The goal? Cross the finish line, ring the bell, and—hopefully—remain dry.
However, speed is not the only factor that matters. A panel of judges will also evaluate creativity—including aspects like bike design, costumes, and overall performance—so teams should go all out with their choreography, props, and flair. The more entertaining, the better!
How to Sign Up?
Testing your skills is straightforward:
- Form a two-person team (both members should be at least 18 years old).
- Register online at redbull.cz/kolomolo by April 27, 2025.
- Include a design sketch of your custom tandem bike as part of your application.
- A group of judges will choose about 40 of the most inventive teams, who will then bring their creations to life for the race day.
Among the judges is Olympic kayaker Vavřinec Hradilek, who will seek more than just technical prowess.
“To win, a team must demonstrate excellent technique, but above all, they need to put on a performance that engages the crowd and the judges. Creativity is vital—teams should aim for something truly memorable,” Hradilek states.
Adding their expertise to the event are Czech biking legends Tomáš Slavík and Michal Maroši. Their words of wisdom?
“Balance is crucial—tandem bikes are trickier than most people think. And above all—stay relaxed. Oh, and take a deep breath… just not underwater,” Maroši jokes.
