Bidet and Shawl at Buchlov Castle

Buchlov Castle
At Buchlov Castle, two unique items that underwent restoration last year are now on display: a damaged Habana shawl and a faience bidet set in a wooden base. The shawl is part of a wedding ensemble from 1602, originally created for the marriage between Jiří Zikmund of Zástřizl and Alžbeta Kotvrdovská of Olešnička. The bidet, crafted in the 18th century and embellished with painted flowers, features a wooden base with a lid that has a carving of a knight in armor. After being restored, these items are now showcased in a Baroque-style bedroom to enhance its historical ambiance. Additionally, this year, you can look forward to night tours on July 25-26, 2025, which will tell fascinating tales and stories about Buchlov Castle and its surroundings. There will also be various events taking place in the courtyard, including a spectacular fire show. Furthermore, a structural renovation of the granary building is set to begin this year, focusing on roof repairs and ensuring its stability. Once the work is completed, the truss will be included in a special tour called the Buchlovská spiral.

Restoration of Wall Paintings at Vizovice Castle

The restoration efforts will focus on cleaning the artwork, removing previous unhelpful repairs, and fixing any damaged areas so that a portion of the fresco can be returned to its authentic appearance. The restoration will pay close attention to preserving the genuine colors and details. The castle will also prepare traditional cultural events for enthusiasts: in June, there will be costume tours for children titled Z(a)tracený case, followed by a Picnic Day in July, which will feature theatrical performances in the gardens. Evening and night tours will also be included in the offerings.
