Libochovice Castle Reopens Post-Winter

Libochovice State Chateau will welcome visitors on the weekend of April 5th and 6th. Additionally, it will also open its doors every day during Easter, including Easter Monday on April 21, 2025. Visitors can enjoy the classic interior exhibition, which reflects various historical styles and designs. The exhibit showcases an impressive collection of porcelain, unique wall tapestries, and beautiful paintings. The decor in the interiors includes the main area known as the Saturn Hall, which spans across two floors and features work by Italian plasterers and the sculptor Jan Brokoff. This castle is historically significant as it is the birthplace of the renowned Czech scientist Jan Evangelista Purkyně, and there is a separate exhibition dedicated to him. Visitors can partake in a special tour that explores the extensive cellars located beneath the castle and part of the courtyard.
A stroll through the castle park
The castle is surrounded by a large park that includes French gardens featuring trees trimmed into neat shapes, alongside a natural landscape park filled with various botanical wonders. Within the gardens, visitors can also spot local peacocks, both colorful and white. Each year in June, the castle invites lovers of cacti and succulents, and in early July, enthusiasts of bonsai are welcomed as well. Libochovice Castle is a favored tourist spot due to its charming location beside the Ohře River, with scenic views of the remains of Hazmburk Castle and the volcanic hills of the Bohemian Central Highlands. It is easy to reach the castle using the Podřipsky motorbike, which runs from Roudnice nad Labem to Libochovice every weekend from March through November.
