Paddlers Set to Launch the Exciting 2025 Vltava River Season

If you’re interested in taking a delightful cruise from Český Krumlov to Zlatá Koruna, you can meet at the U Trojice camp located in Český Krumlov. There, the traditional unlocking of the Vltava River is scheduled for 11:00 AM, and we will set off on our journey around noon. This scenic 12 km cruise will wrap up at the campsite in Zlatá Koruna (at kilometer 268.5) in the afternoon. This exciting event is put together by boat rental companies with support from local campsites in Zlatá Koruna (Kemp u Kučerů and Kemp Koruna) as well as in Český Krumlov (Kemp U Trojice). If you need to borrow a boat, make sure to rent one in advance as reservations are necessary!

To keep everyone in high spirits, Brodimil the waterman, the friendly patron of the Vltava River, will be around. The festivities kick off at 10:00 AM at the Krumlov campsite (U Trojice, km 280.6). As always, there will be refreshments available in Český Krumlov, and live musicians will help create a joyful atmosphere.

Fun Cruise on the Vltava River

At the start of the unlocking ceremony, you can enjoy lively music along with hot drinks, beer, and snacks. The unlocking of the river will happen at around 11:00 AM. A local waterman, along with his companion, will ceremoniously unlock the river with a key, opening it to all boaters. After that, the watermen and waterwomen will begin their adventurous journey down the river, first stopping at Milan, where there will be refreshments and a fire. The cruise will then continue toward Zlatá Koruna (km 268.5), which will also have tasty treats ready for everyone. But the celebration doesn’t stop at meals; there will be games, singing, and plenty of fun activities until evening. The planned route is 12 kilometers long and takes about 3 hours to sail.

You can arrange for a stay at the Krumlov U Trojice camp in comfortable new cottages or set up your own tents. Additionally, camping options are available at campsites in Zlatá Koruna, with two sites located close to each other: Camp U Kučerů and Camp Koruna. Feel free to show off your creative side, as costumes are welcome. Pets are also allowed at the event, but they must be on a leash at all times.
