Catch Angela Merkel Live in Prague: An Exclusive Interview Event!
Angela Merkel, who holds the title of Germany’s longest-serving chancellor, is set to make a visit to Prague, where she’ll participate in a rare public engagement and conduct her first-ever live interview in the Czech Republic.
During this event, she will engage in conversation with Czech journalist Tomáš Lindner regarding her memoir Freedom and offer her thoughts on the current state of democracy both in Germany and across Europe.
For a remarkable sixteen years, Merkel guided Europe’s strongest nation through an extraordinary series of events including financial crises, a refugee influx, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Her recently released autobiography provides an insider’s perspective on how crucial decisions were made throughout her tenure — decisions that played a significant role in shaping contemporary Europe.
In her book, Merkel delves into her upbringing in East Germany and how the experience of living under a communist regime influenced her perspective on the world. During the interview organized by Respekt, she is expected to elaborate on these topics and share valuable insights into the challenges of political leadership.

The interview will be conducted in German, with simultaneous interpretation into Czech. Each ticket includes a set of headphones for live translation. For those proficient in German, there is also the option to buy tickets that allow attendance without headphones.
