Kick Off Spa Season in Luhačovice with the Spring Opening

On the second weekend of May, specifically from May 9 to May 11, 2025, the charming town of Luhačovice will be filled with excitement during a traditional festival that marks the symbolic beginning of this year’s spa season. The Opening of the Springs is the highlight of the year in this spa town and a major event for everyone involved. This festive occasion features a diverse cultural program that promises to be just as entertaining this year. The three-day celebration will kick off with an opening ceremony on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a concert by Jiří Korn & Company that same evening, May 9. Throughout the weekend, visitors will find various locations such as Dr. Veselý Street, the spa park, Vila pod Lipami, and Vila Alpská růže buzzing with activity.

On Saturday, Dr. Veselý Street will host a lively fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here, and in the spa park, the ambiance will transport you back to the golden age of the spa from the previous century. Enjoy a cortege featuring period costumes, witness a column of historic vehicles, and take part in a historical bicycle ride. You can also explore The Mysterious World of Jiří Šebesta’s Wonderful Games and participate in Simply Circus workshops. Additionally, an Art Nouveau photo studio will be available at the colonnade, while the Villa Alpská rose will showcase demonstrations of birds of prey, and visitors at Vila pod Lipami can delight in a vintage carousel. Music, dance, and theatrical performances will light up the Spa Square, hall Vincent, and the source Ottovka.

The celebration will reach its peak with a festive mass on Sunday, followed by the consecration of the springs. On this special day, attendees can enjoy a captivating performance titled Dancing Springs, featuring vibrant costumes and traditional songs and dances from the region. The street fair and other activities will continue, just like Saturday. The Festival will also include tours of the Church of the Holy Family (Open Doors). And what better way to conclude this lively festival than with a sing-along? On Sunday afternoon, starting at 4 p.m., join in the fun at the Vincentka hall with dulcimer music from Milotice.

As the number of attendees keeps increasing each year, ensuring hassle-free parking for visitors is a top priority. The town has arranged for a parking lot located on the approach from Uherský Brod. From there, a shuttle will transport guests to the city center. This service will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with minibuses running every half hour. Tourists can also make use of local ČSAD bus connections.
