Karlovy Vary: Royal Procession and New Exhibition
Karlovy Vary, the heart of Czechia’s spa culture located in the west part of the country, is gearing up for the ceremonial opening of the season which will take place from May 2 to May 4. The extensive program will be highlighted by the Parade of Czech King Charles IV on Saturday, featuring an exciting tournament with knights, acrobats, and captivating dancers. Attendees can also anticipate a range of attractions, including well-known film melodies showcased by the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the delightful Craft Fair.
In front of the Thermal Hotel, another exciting event—the Beer & Grill Fest—will occur, transforming the area into a two-day culinary extravaganza filled with savory grilled treats, special beer offerings, street food, and an array of musical performances, all designed to delight the senses.
Mariánské Lázně: The Symphony Orchestra and the Traditional Blessing of the Springs
Have you ever wondered what makes Mariánské Lázně so exceptional? It is the only location globally to feature all four natural healing resources—mineral waters, peat, mineral gas, and a healing climate! This unique combination will be emphasized during the 207th celebration of the spa season in Mariánské Lázně, which is traditionally held on the second weekend of May (May 9–11). This year’s theme revolves around the town’s anniversary and its esteemed connection to UNESCO. The festivities kick off on Friday, May 9, and will include a beautiful concert by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra. The official celebrations will continue on Saturday, May 10, with a Mass taking place in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, located near the colonnade. Visitors can once again look forward to a diverse array of events, including the traditional blessing of the springs, various music performances, as well as crafts and farmers’ markets. A key highlight will be the enchanting Singing Fountain—a beloved local attraction—dancing to beautiful melodies.
Františkovy Lázně: The Awakening of the Town. Františkovy Lázně will celebrate its 232nd spa season opening on May 17. The town has planned an extravagant cultural program that will unfold in the music gazebo adjacent to the František spring. The Awakening of the Town celebration will commence in the morning, so don’t miss the Mass and the festive parade through the town. There will also be a full day of activities designed specifically for younger visitors.
Jáchymov Spa: Great Music and Delicious Food
On Saturday, May 24, the Jáchymov Spa will host a day filled with cultural performances, alongside the ceremonial blessing of the springs, and stalls in the park featuring regional treats and beverages. Be sure to visit the terrace of the Radium Palace Hotel, where a dedicated food zone will offer delectable options.
Fun Fact: In June 2025, we will celebrate 100 years since the illustrious scientist Marie Curie Skłodowska visited Jáchymov! It was from the Jáchymov mines that pitchblende was sourced, allowing Marie Curie Skłodowska and her husband Pierre to isolate a new element—radium. This groundbreaking discovery has left an enduring mark on science and medicine.
Teplice Spa: The Oldest Spa Celebrates with Beethoven.
The ceremonial opening of the 871st spa season in Teplice, located in the northeast region of Czechia, is traditionally held on the last weekend of May, specifically on May 24-25. Once again, the city center will transform into a grand open-air festival. Audiences can enjoy stages featuring an assortment of musical styles, a summer cinema, and a historical marketplace. Spa Lane will also be presented, providing an exciting glimpse into the rich history of the Teplice spa. An entire procession of kings and emperors, who once ruled from these therapeutic baths, will oversee the events from the Royal Guest Gallery, while the notable emblems of revered classical composers who’ve drawn inspiration from Teplice will adorn the skies above. Moreover, right before the festivities kick off in the Teplice Spa, the Beethoven Festival will commence—a heartfelt homage to the legendary composer who was known to enjoy his visits to Teplice.
Luhačovice Spa: A Vintage Car Show and the Opening of the Springs
The Luhačovice Spa, situated in the southeast of Czechia, near Zlín and the renowned Lešná Zoo, will traditionally welcome the arrival of spring with the Opening of the Springs Festival, scheduled for May 9-11. Festivities will include a vintage car exhibition, live concerts, a fair, and demonstrations showcasing historical bicycles. As always, the beloved blessing of the springs ceremony will take place on Sunday.
Třeboň Spa: A Beautiful Spa in South Bohemia
Join us on Saturday, May 31, in the charming town of Třeboň located in South Bohemia, where the entire day will be devoted to celebrating the local spa and its famous peat baths. This signature event traditionally offers a particularly rich program featuring a blend of cultural, spa-related, and exciting festivities at various locations around the heart of Třeboň.
Jeseník Spa: Mountain Air and Crystal-Clear Water
If you are yearning for tranquility and are on the lookout for natural healing properties in refreshing waters, the mountain spa in Jeseník is the perfect destination for you. Jeseník now offers treatments utilizing sea salt and salt-iodine-bromine solutions, allowing you to boost your immune system naturally! The traditional opening of the spa season in Jeseník and at the Priessnitz Spa will occur on May 16-18, offering visitors a chance to partake in a vibrant cultural program. This year, the charming town of Poděbrady in Central Bohemia is commemorating the 120th anniversary of the discovery of its renowned mineral water. This milestone will be marked with a variety of social events, including the opening of the spa season from May 9 to May 11 as well as main celebrations scheduled for August. Throughout the period from May to September, Poděbrady will host numerous concerts, festivals, historical parades, and sports activities across different genres.
Darkov Spa in Karviná: New Developments in Spa Treatments
The traditional Spring Opening of the Springs at Lázně Darkov in North Moravia is set to occur on May 17, featuring a ceremonial blessing of the springs alongside an engaging cultural program for all attendees. Furthermore, visitors will be delighted to learn that a new spa colonnade will open in front of the Community Hall, along with a modernized balneotherapy facility in the Historic Darkov Spa, enhancing its role as a center not only for therapeutic treatments but also for vibrant social activity.
