Easter in Mikulov: A Vibrant Celebration of Tradition and Craftsmanship

Easter in Mikulov will take place from April 16 to April 21, featuring a varied program that includes the traditional egg hunt and the making of Easter treats and decorations. During this festive time, the city will host a craft fair along with performances by various bands and folklore groups. The castle will also offer family-friendly tours that are suitable for children starting from the age of 3.

You can begin the holiday festivities early on Maundy Thursday, March 28, as kids will definitely want to join their favorite Easter Egg Hunt taking place in the Turold area. From 4 to 6 pm, children can take part in competitions, egg hunts, and crafting activities, and they will even receive a reward from the Bunny! Children are encouraged to wear their Easter costumes. Additionally, a religious service commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus Christ will be held at St. Wenceslas Church starting at 6 pm.

On Good Friday, you can join a guided stroll highlighting Easter traditions, starting at 10:30 am in the square. Later, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, enjoy the widely-loved Easter Fair featuring crafts and traditional activities. A Good Friday service commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ will also take place in the Church of St. Wenceslas at Kostelní náměstí.

Throughout the weekend, the Square will host the Easter Fair, open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Saturday program on stage will feature musical and dance performances across different genres, including dulcimer music by Squealer and Kasanica, a COVER performance, and HB Stop… as well as unique acts from representatives of the new circus. History enthusiasts can join guided city tours at 10:30 am or 2:00 pm. For younger attendees, a special event called About the Restless Pomlázce will be held at the Mikulov Municipal Cinema starting from 1 pm. You can participate in an Easter service celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ at St. Wenceslas Church at 9 pm.

On Easter Sunday, the Easter market will run again from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, featuring performances by Tomáš Koláček & Sweetrio, Jazzpetit Q, and Láska Band. Guided city tours are also available at 10:30 am or 2:00 pm. All crafty children are invited to the castle garden and orangery; during a creative workshop from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, they can make Spring decorations using textile mosaics, guided by Sylva Chludilová (in case of rain, the workshop will be moved to the Municipal Cinema).

On Easter Monday, the celebrations will wrap up with a special Easter Mass at 9:00 am in the Church of St. Wenceslas, located at Church Square.
