Easter Adventures for Kids: Discover Fun and Traditions at Old Town Square Markets

At Old Town Square, there will be an exciting program on stage every day from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Starting from 11:00 AM on White Saturday and going through Easter Monday, there will be children’s Easter workshops. On this special day, activities will be led by members of the non-profit organization Mezi námi o.p.s., where grandmothers will join children in creating beautiful crafts. This collaboration provides a fantastic opportunity for the younger generation to learn how previous generations celebrated traditional holidays. It’s a unique way to connect different age groups. Children can craft their own paper bracelets adorned with spring themes, and they are free to color them according to their imagination or create other Easter and spring decorations, all while grandmothers share lovely stories. On Easter Monday, at 4:00 PM, there will also be a spectacular performance by Bára Ladrová and her friends.
In the area behind the statue of Jan Hus, there are interactive boards available where visitors can express themselves by writing or drawing with chalk. Many attendees enjoy leaving messages in their native languages, and children often fill the boards with drawings that feature pre-printed Easter elements such as eggs, bunnies, or chicks. On weekends, organizers have arranged additional activities right in front of the interactive boards. On Saturday and Sunday, you can look forward to a lively Easter program featuring a couple of folk dancers who will perform and teach those interested how to play the fanfronts (a traditional Czech folk rhythm instrument). This program will also take place at Wenceslas Square, where performances are scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Visitors exploring the market will find 71 sales stalls in Old Town Square (plus 3 charity stalls), while Wenceslas Square offers 32 stalls. Throughout the Easter holidays, attendees can savor traditional Czech dishes like Easter lamb, sweet cakes, egg spreads, spring stuffing, gingerbread shaped like Easter icons, and even green beer. Additionally, shoppers will find pom poms and various types of Easter eggs.
