Karlovy Vary, the heart of the Czechia’s spa industry located in the western region, will be celebrating a grand ceremonial opening of the spa season from May 2 to 4. This vibrant event will prominently feature the spectacular Parade of Czech King Charles IV on Saturday, accompanied by an exhilarating tournament of knights, acrobats, and dancers. Attendees will also enjoy a variety of attractions, including beloved film melodies brought to life by the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the lively Craft Fair.

Additionally, in front of the Thermal Hotel in Karlovy Vary, the renowned Beer & Grill Fest will return – a two-day event bursting with mouthwatering grilled delights, craft beers, street food, music, and entertainment that will appeal to all your senses.

Mariánské Lázně: The Symphony Orchestra and the Traditional Blessing of the Springs

Are you aware of what makes Mariánské Lázně so exceptional? It is the only location worldwide that offers a combination of all four natural healing resources – mineral waters, peat, mineral gas, and a curative climate! This unique blend will be celebrated during the 207th opening of the spa season in Mariánské Lázně, which is traditionally observed on the second weekend of May (May 9–11). This year, the festivities will focus on the town’s anniversary and its remarkable connection to UNESCO. The event kicks off on Friday, May 9, with an inspiring concert by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra. The official ceremonies will continue on Saturday, May 10, beginning with a Mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, situated near the colonnade. Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of events, including the classic blessing of the springs, an array of musical performances spanning multiple genres, as well as lively crafts and farmers’ markets. One major highlight will undoubtedly be the Singing Fountain, an iconic attraction in the town, which will enchant audiences with its beautiful melodies.

Františkovy Lázně is set to celebrate its 232nd spa season on May 17. The town has curated an engaging cultural program that will take place in the music gazebo beside the František spring. The Awakening of the Town ceremony will unfold in the morning, followed by a Mass and a parade through the town, which you won’t want to miss. There will also be an entire day filled with activities specifically aimed at the youngest attendees.

Jáchymov Spa: Enjoy Great Music and Tasty Food

On Saturday, May 24, the Jáchymov Spa will host a day filled with cultural performances, alongside the ceremonial blessing of the springs and stalls in the park showcasing local products and refreshments. Don’t forget to visit the terrace of the Radium Palace Hotel, where a dedicated food zone will be available.

Did You Know? In June 2025, it will mark an entire century since the celebrated scientist Marie Curie Skłodowska visited Jáchymov! It was here, in the Jáchymov mines, that pitchblende was sourced, the mineral from which Marie Curie Skłodowska and her husband Pierre isolated a new element – radium. This groundbreaking discovery transformed the fields of science and medicine forever.

Teplice Spa: The Oldest Spa Celebrates with Beethoven
The ceremonial opening of the 871st spa season in Teplice, located in the northeastern part of Czechia, is traditionally scheduled for the last weekend of May, which falls this year on May 24-25. The city center will transform into a vibrant open-air festival. In addition to numerous stages featuring various musical styles, a summer cinema, and a historical market, Spa Lane will provide an enchanting journey back in time to the illustrious history of the Teplice spa. An entire parade of kings and emperors, who famously sought the comfort of the thermal waters in Teplice, will be represented on the Royal Guest Gallery, with the symbols of some of the most celebrated classical music composers who were inspired by Teplice flying high above. Furthermore, a Beethoven Festival will kick off on the eve of the celebrations, in homage to this musical genius who cherished his visits to Teplice.

Luhačovice Spa: A Vintage Car Show and the Opening of the Springs

The Luhačovice Spa, located in the southeast of Czechia near Zlín and the famed Lešná Zoo, will traditionally usher in the season and the arrival of spring with the Opening of the Springs Festival, scheduled for May 9–11. Expect a delightful vintage car show, various concerts, a fair, and demonstrations of historical bicycles. The much-anticipated blessing of the springs will naturally take place on Sunday.
