Revive Traditions: Experience Easter Folk Customs and Crafts at Veselý Kopec

merry hillDuring the Easter holidays, from April 18 to April 21, a special event known as Easter at Veselý Kopec will take place at the open-air museum. From Good Friday on April 18 through until Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, visitors will have the chance to explore the insides of the log cabins within the Veselý Kopec open-air museum. The cabins will feature displays of Easter baked goods, beautifully decorated eggs, and various traditional items. Visitors can also enjoy exciting demonstrations on creating Easter crafts, such as knitting colorful pom poms, using different techniques to decorate Easter eggs, shaping and baking Easter pastries, and much more.

Merry HillWhile you’re there, learn about the custom of baking a special pastry called Judas on Green Thursday, discover traditional methods of decorating Easter eggs in Horace, and find out what meals people enjoyed at the Easter feast a century ago. Folk artisans will be present at Veselý Kopec, showcasing their craftsmanship and offering their handmade products for sale. On Sunday, April 20, the boys from Slepotice will carry out a historical yet vibrant local tradition known as the “Judas procession“. The Merry Hill is excited to welcome visitors for Easter, remaining open every day, including Monday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Come immerse yourself in the festive spirit and enjoy the beauty of spring at Merry Hill! Admission to the open-air museum is priced at 190 CZK for adults; 170 CZK for students aged 15-26 and seniors over 65; 90 CZK for children aged 6-15; and a family ticket (for 2 adults and up to 4 children aged 6-15) costs 390 CZK.

An exhibition called Easter at Bethlehem housed in the log cabins showcases springtime customs, delicious pastries, traditional items, and adorned Easter eggs.
