Escape Boredom this Easter at Zoo Prague!

Zoo Prague EasterIf you’re looking for a great way to spend part of your Easter holiday, why not consider visiting Zoo Prague? It’s a perfect spot to either prepare for the upcoming Easter Monday or to enjoy the celebrations right there at the zoo!

According to an old legend, Good Friday is a special day when treasures emerge from the mountains and hills. Among these treasures are the baby critically endangered scaly guinea pigs, which you can only see at Zoo Prague and in Brazil. In fact, Zoo Prague has become the very first place in the world where these little creatures have hatched outside of their home in South America. There are only about 250 of these guinea pigs left in the wild, and if they successfully breed at Prague Zoo, it will mark a historic global milestone. You can visit the guinea pig family on Friday, April 18 from 11:00 a.m. at the Bird Wetlands area, close to the boatmen’s exhibit.

Weekend Workshops and Gifts on Monday

ZOO PRAGUEOn the weekend of April 19 and 20, you have the exciting chance to become a part of the Zoo Prague breeding team! During the enrichment workshops, you can craft baskets, balls, or wreaths out of willow for the animals to enjoy. This type of enrichment helps keep the animals active, fills their leisure time with fun, and encourages their natural behaviors. Those interested can sign up through the Prague Zoo website.

On Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, the breeders will present special gifts for the animals—spring-themed items that will enrich their environment. Additionally, visitors can participate in thirteen guided feeding sessions, which allow people to learn more about the animals. One of the favorite activities will be a demonstration of the veterinary seal training group, starting at 1:30 p.m. The sea lions will also receive a special Easter treat—fish shaped like eggs that have been frozen. On Easter Monday, gorillas will also enjoy themed enrichment. At 10:00 a.m., you can see Richard and his sons at the Méfou Center, followed by gorilla cubs at the Dja Reserve pavilion at 3:00 p.m. Moreover, a fun Easter treat will be given to wombats at the Darwin Crater at 2:00 p.m. The breeders and the Wagner bakers, who are currently caring for March triplets, will present a pom pom at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
