Ridge Trail: An Experiential Hiking Route
Our recommendation: The Bozkov Dolomite Caves serve as a wonderful destination for family outings.
The Czech–Polish Ridge Trail is undoubtedly one of the most recognized and frequently explored paths in the Liberec Region. It elegantly connects a variety of natural vistas and cultural sites, traversing the magnificent Jizerské Mountains and the majestic Krkonoše Mountains, providing stunning views of the picturesque environment. This path is part of an extensive summit trail. As you journey, you can anticipate discovering lookout towers, charming viewpoints, waterfalls, natural wonders, castles, and châteaux, all while enjoying various options for refreshments and lodgings.
This route is ideal for more experienced hikers, offering a series of challenges alongside opportunities to unwind and appreciate the breathtaking countryside. We suggest making a trip to the Elephant Rocks, striking white rock formations that are easily spotted from the road as you ascend to the Jitrava Saddle, which lies between the towns of Jablonné v Podještědí and Liberec.
Crystal Valley: The Liberec Region holds the title of the birthplace of Czech glassmaking. As you wander through Crystal Valley, you can visit glass workshops, observe the traditional craftsmanship of glass production, and even acquire one-of-a-kind glass souvenirs. An excellent example is glassmaker Jiří Pačinek, whose stunning sculptures made an appearance in the American dark comedy Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Lužické (Lusatian) Mountains Beer Trail
Our suggestion: A mild ascent to the summit of Jedlová Mountain, featuring a stone lookout tower, presents a fantastic opportunity to sample another local beer at the cozy chalet situated just below the tower.
The Lužické Mountains Beer Trail invites you to explore a scenic landscape deeply rooted in brewing heritage. You’ll encounter natural splendor, delightful local brews, and the friendly ambiance of many small breweries and inviting pubs.
Be sure to visit Cvikov Brewery, known for producing traditional beers like the pale Sklář lager and special top-fermented varieties. You’ll also discover a fantastic local selection at the pub U Vohnoutů in Kytlice.
The adventure starts in Česká Lípa. You can either complete the entire trail or break it up into stages, as it will guide you to remarkable sites such as Tolštejn and Mount Luž.

Ještěd: The Iconic Landmark of the Region
Our suggestion: Perfect for romantic rendezvous and stunning photographs. At Ještěd, you can spend the night and treat yourself to a delightful meal.
Amongst the most iconic symbols of the Liberec Region, Ještěd stands out with its futuristic design that combines a hotel with a broadcasting tower. This remarkable edifice is impossible to overlook and definitely merits a visit. Whether you opt for an overnight stay or a culinary experience, the splendid views from Ještěd—where winter sports are available for skiing, and whose base is conveniently accessible via tram straight from downtown Liberec—will not disappoint. Indulge in traditional Czech cuisine while you soak in the atmosphere of what is regarded as one of Czechia’s most significant architectural treasures.
Sychrov Château: Sychrov is a paradise for filmmakers—most notably featured in the British series The Aristocrats and the Oscar-winning war drama All Quiet on the Western Front! With its French Romantic architecture, intricately decorated interiors, and beautiful surroundings, it has served as the backdrop for numerous films and fairy tales. Its grand halls, opulent furnishings, and sprawling English-style gardens create an enchanting ambiance for any narrative. Anticipate expansive gardens and falconers showcasing magnificent birds of prey.
