Top Pet-Friendly Spots to Explore in Prague This Spring!

With the arrival of spring, we enjoy longer days and milder weather — a wonderful opportunity to explore the outdoors with your children.

If you are searching for nature-oriented outings that are both informative and enjoyable, Prague provides numerous options beyond the usual zoo experience. From charming farmyards to scenic forest trails, many of these locations are conveniently reachable via public transport and typically have little to no entry fee.

Here are some of the most delightful animal-friendly destinations in and around the city that will captivate young adventurers while offering parents a serene experience in nature.

Toulcův Dvůr – A Quaint Farm Experience in Hostivař

Situated within a beautiful historic Baroque-Gothic farmhouse in Prague’s Hostivař district, Toulcův Dvůr is home to adorable lambs, playful rabbits, clucking chickens, gentle goats, cute pigs, ponies, and cows. The spring season is particularly vibrant here, as the arrival of newborn animals adds to the joyous Easter ambiance. Admission is only 20 CZK for children. Simply take bus 177 and disembark at Toulcův Dvůr.

Wild Garden Hostivař – Discover Deer and Waterfowl by the Dam

Located near Toulcův Dvůr and nestled in the western part of Hostivař Forest Park, the Divoká Zahrada (Wild Garden) offers visitors a chance to observe some lesser-known species such as ducks, geese, mouflons, and fallow deer. You can reach this lovely spot by taking bus 181 or 182 to the stop called K Obecním hájovnám and then walking to the end of the street.

Milíčov Zoo Park – Get Up Close with Forest Animals

On the outskirts of Milíčov Forest, this charming small zoo park features friendly horses, goats, and sheep. Children can enter for free, while tickets for adults cost 50 CZK. Take bus 203 to the Milíčov stop, or enjoy a stroll from the Háje metro station.

 

Kunratice Zoo Corner – Forest Encounters in Prague 4

In the heart of the Kunratice Forest (Krčský les), families will discover a small animal enclosure that showcases fallow deer. There are also nearby playgrounds, a historic gamekeeper’s lodge, and the U krále Václava IV restaurant. Be sure to check out the unique mousetrap-shaped moorings located on the grounds of the nearby Thomayer Hospital. Buses 193 and 203 stop at Zelené domky nad IKEM, or you can follow the green hiking path.

Kamýk Zoo Corner – A Peaceful Spot with Goats

In the Kamýk Forest, nestled between Prague 4 and 12, you’ll find a quaint animal corner next to a forest playground that is home to Cameroon and Walliser goats. To get there, take bus 189 or 197 to Lhotecký les or Cílkova, and then follow the green tourist trail.

Mini-Zoo Chuchle – A Safe Haven for Injured Wildlife

Located within Chuchelský háj, close to an old gamekeeper’s lodge, this forest zoo serves as a rescue station for animals unable to return to their natural habitats. About 30 species can be found here, including deer, wild boars, foxes, lynxes, and raccoons. Although it requires a bit more travel, this gem is definitely worth the trip. You can take buses 129, 172, 241, or 244 to Malá Chuchle, and then walk past the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Alternatively, a more stroller-friendly route begins at Nový Slivenec, accessible by buses 120 or 130.

Klánovice Forest – A Learning Trail for Young Nature Enthusiasts

In Klánovice Forest, there is a nature trail designed to introduce children to 30 different native animals. Along this interesting pathway, information panels provide fascinating facts and audio clips featuring animal sounds. The easiest access point is via train to Klánovice Station, conveniently located right on the forest’s edge.

Dívčí Hrady – Encounter the Last of the Wild Horses

One of the most remarkable animal encounters in Prague awaits you at Dívčí Hrady, where Przewalski’s horses — the last true wild horse species — roam freely. They were reintroduced by Prague Zoo and now enjoy grazing on the hills above Prokopské Valley. To reach this spot, take bus 153 to Nad Dívčími hrady, or opt for a scenic walk from the Radlická metro station, passing the Radlický Cemetery along the way.
