The Bastion provides an incredible view of the opposite silhouette of Vyšehrad, featuring the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the Vltava riverbanks, the Petřín Lookout Tower, and various other historical landmarks and churches. And when you start to feel tired from walking, you can take a break at the cozy Na hradbách pub, located near the St. Martin’s Rotunda.

The Enchanting English Park at Gröbe Villa

In the English Park at Gröbe Villa, you can stumble upon a romantic artificial cave and one of Prague’s historic vineyards that cascades down towards the Nusel valley. On the slopes of Petřín Hill, you can explore one of Prague’s most stunning and significant Baroque gardens, the Vrtba Garden. It is often regarded as one of the most beautiful gardens of its kind found north of the Alps. This Italianate Baroque terraced garden was designed for John Joseph, Count of Vrtba, who served as the highest purgrave of Prague Castle. It was built near the Vrtba Palace between 1715 and 1720, with the design credited to František Maxmilián Kaňka. The garden’s sculptural decorations were created by Matthias Bernard Braun, alongside contributions from Václav Vavřinec Reiner, whose fresco on the vault of the sala terrena is especially notable. Additionally, the garden boasts a giant aviary at the bottom of its cascading grounds, which is home to a variety of exotic birds and provides one of the most breathtaking views of Prague’s historic city center.
