Uncorking Adventure: Your Ultimate Guide to Summer Wine Cellars

In some villages and towns, winemakers have made arrangements so that from spring to autumn you can be sure that especially at least one cellar will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The glasses will be lent to you by individual winemakers, the tasting usually costs 100 to 250 CZK and you can of course buy the wines you like in larger quantities. In some places the offer varies, for example in Velké Bílovice, Mutěnice a Dolní Dunajovice and Březí have winemakers open on weekdays.
If you are eagerly awaiting the summer open cellars, you can visit the Open Cellars Festival – Spring in the Blue Mountains, which takes place from 26 to 27 April 2025. The 35th edition involved more than thirty winemakers from the municipalities of Dolní Věstonice, Horní Věstonice, Pavlov, Perná and Bavory.
To the winemaker in Velké Bílovice
Even if you don’t know Velké Bílovice itself, you probably know at least about the local chapel on the top of Hradištěk, which appeared in the film Berry. If you come to Velké Bílovice, in information centre and on the information board at Osvoboditelů Square (or on the Velkobílovice winemakers’ website) to find out who has an open cellar. From the stand you can take a map of the cellar aisles, find the relevant winery and then you can taste what you like. The wineries are open to you until until August 27, 2025.. During this time, the doors of 54 wineries will gradually open. Every week 4 to 6 wineries, Thursday to Wednesday from 15:00 to 19:00.
You can also explore wine at 15-kilometre educational trail and cycle path. Along the way you will be introduced to all three cellar tracks and most of the vineyard tracks.
Summer of open cellars in Pavlov
In Pavlov, one of the wine-growing villages on the slopes of Pálava, the winemakers from the Vinitores Palaviensis association invite you to Summer of open cellars. From 27 June to 24 August 2025 will be one winery open each week, in Friday from 16:00 to 20:00, at Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You will not only get to know Pavlov wines directly at the place of their origin, but also meet local winemakers in person and see their historical cellars. The wine is usually tasted eight to ten samples, the tasting includes a winemaker’s commentary on each wine, water and pastries. A winery schedule can be found, for example, on the wine association’s website or in the Pavlov wine shop.
To the winemaker in Blatnice
You can go to Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem, the area of the Stará hora wine cellars, by all summer from 23 May to 21 September 2025 in the framework of the event To Blatnice to the winemaker. Winemakers will be waiting for you in their cellars – during the summer it will be possible to visit about thirty. They are always open at Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For 150 CZK, which you pay on the spot, you can taste at least six wine samples.

Summer of open cellars in Dolní Dunajovice and Březí
Between the South Moravian municipalities of Březí, Dolní Dunajovice and Brod nad Dyjí, a narrow belt of hills stretches in a north-south direction, whose foothills are mostly covered with vineyards: the Dunajovice Hills National Natural Monument.
