Visit Průhonice for the Spectacular Tulip Parade

PrůhonicePrůhonice, located just outside of Prague, is well-known for its spacious park and a distinctive example of European garden architecture, established in the late 19th century by Count Arnost Emanuel Silva Taroucca.

From a distance, the turret of the neo-Renaissance castle stands out, having appeared in numerous film fairy tales. Visitors can explore the memorial hall dedicated to the founder of Průhonice Park, which features a small exhibition and a café located in the Small Courtyard. Throughout the year, various events take place in the garden for everyone to enjoy.

Tulips in Průhonice

TulipsFrom April 26 to May 18, 2025, Průhonice will host an exhibition showcasing bulbs, with a special emphasis on tulips. However, be aware that the exhibition will not take place in the castle park; it will be held in the Dendrological Garden, which boasts a unique assortment of ornamental trees. This garden is situated north of the D1 motorway (exit 6), and the main entrance can be found at the southeast corner of the garden, not far from Aquapalace water park in Czestochowa.

The exhibition will highlight a wide range of tulip varieties. In total, 172 types will be planted. These will be organized in beds within the Long Meadow along the main walking path. This year, you can expect to see around 70 varieties from the Triumph group and nearly 40 types from the Darwin hybrids. There will also be smaller quantities of lily-like, simple late, and trefoil tulips. A collection of botanical tulips is located at the garden entrance, along with early-blooming tulips on a grand pergola. Currently, the tulips are in full bloom.

Spring in Full Bloom or Just Beginning…

pivonky-shutterstock-1477492349.jpgNaturally, it’s not just tulips that are making a splash this season—spring is vibrant and alive, thanks to the warm sunny days. This is the perfect time for rhododendrons, spring roses, and peonies to bloom. Beautifully blooming lilacs, viburnums, and exochordas can also be seen. Unfortunately, late April frosts caused damage to many plants, including actinidia, vines, walnuts, magnolias, hydrangeas, wisteria before they bloomed, and numerous others. Fortunately, the gardeners have been cultivating flowers and shrubs that were not affected by the frost.

The garden is open daily except Mondays, and in May, it operates from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Last entry to the garden is allowed one hour before closing time, so please plan to spend at least an hour exploring this beautiful space.
