Explore the Enchanting Wine Trails of the Painted Region

Wandering through the painted countrySouth Moravia is a hub of folklore and rich traditions, particularly known for its vine cultivation, where grape growing and wine production are cherished customs passed down through generations. Take the opportunity to sample not only this exquisite drink but also some delicious local dishes while soaking in the welcoming ambiance of this lovely region. Traveling by bike or on foot, you can explore The wine country through organized tourist events, revealing the scenic beauty of the landscape and tasting the local specialties and wines straight from the winemakers’ hands. There are two cycling routes and one walking route available to participants.Wandering through the Painted Region will commence at the Bartonik Family Winery in Mikulčice, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. During your adventure, you will encounter stamping points located in traditional wine cellars or at captivating tourist attractions, where you can collect stamps for your starting passport. Refreshments can be purchased at the various stops directly from local vendors.

Wandering through the Painted LandThe starter package can be acquired on-site for 280 Kč (or just 230 Kč if you purchase in advance through the e-shop). This package includes a tasting glass with a carrier (which you can return for a 20 Kč deposit), a starting passport featuring a route map (the passport also enters you into a raffle), and an exciting program at the stamping locations. There are two clearly marked routes available for both cyclists and pedestrians. Those who choose the cycling routes (either 45 km or 37 km) will travel through the towns of Mikulčice, Moravská Nová Ves, Hrušky, Velké Bílovice, Prušánky-Nechory, Josefov, and Dolní Bojanovice. The pedestrian route (15 km) will lead participants from Mikulčice to Prušánky and Josefov, before looping back to Mikulčice.

Wandering through the wine country in the Painted RegionWhether you choose to travel on foot or by bike, Wandering through the Painted Land offers you charming villages, breathtaking views, excellent wines, and warm hospitality. The event organizers have collaborated with distinguished winemakers from each village to arrange delightful stops along the way. You can look forward to impressive wineries such as the Ilčík and Výmol wineries from Mikulčice, as well as Andulka and Prath wineries from Josefov. In Hrušky, the Jův family and Říhovi will open their wine cellars for you to explore.

The accompanying program will be hosted in the courtyard of the Bartonik winery, where the Bartonik family will provide refreshments, and you can enjoy delightful dulcimer music as well.
