Discover the Enchantment of Kačina: Spend an Unforgettable Night in the Chotek Castle Library
During the two-hour evening event known as Night at the Chotek Library, attendees will be immersed in the experiences of life at Kačina Castle during the second half of the 19th century. The highlight of the evening will be Count Arnošt Chotek himself. You will discover the significance of theatre in the lives of the Czech aristocracy during the 19th century, and can look forward to performances of excerpts from historical theatre pieces presented by actors Viktor Dvořák and Kristýna Kudrnáčová. Along with these performances, there will also be an extended library tour featuring some of the theatrical and musical works relevant to the period.
Guests will have a unique chance to experience the splendid Library Pavilion in the evening, almost beneath the stars, and also tour the librarian’s flat, where they can explore some rare historical maps and a selection of travel books.
The Chotkovská castle library is among the most treasured and well-regarded sites at Kačina Castle. Its architectural significance, combined with the richness of its book collection, establishes it as one of the most crucial cultural landmarks in the Czech Republic. Visitors to the castle can participate in standard library tours, while the evening experience tours are offered on an irregular basis. This year’s library will hold tours on May 2, 2025, with sessions starting at 18:00, again at 19:00, and finally at 20:00. Seating is limited, so don’t forget to book your tickets online! Each ticket is priced at 200 CZK, with a consistent rate for all visitors.
