Explore the Příbram Mining Museum This Holiday

At the cachovny mine Anna, you can also explore the underground and enjoy a ride on the mine train that travels through the 260-meter-long Prokopská štolá. This tunnel leads to the historic Prokop pit, established in 1832, which is the deepest shaft in the Březohorské area (1600 m) and the third deepest in all of the Czech Republic. While visiting the Anna Mine, guests can venture underground for a walk through the 750-meter-long Wasserlauf mine, which dates back to the 16th through the 19th centuries. The guided tour will also include the Janska Pit, originating from the early 18th century. This fascinating underground journey extends an additional 810 meters thanks to this immersive experience.

Inside the machine room of the Vojtěch mine, you can view one of the museum’s rarest treasures: a steam mining machine crafted in 1873 by the Prague company Breitfeld & Daněk, which was updated in 1888-1889. This machine is the oldest of its kind in the Czech Republic. Additionally, there is a restored mining forge that dates back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Visitors can also traverse the 330-meter long water gallery from the end of the 18th century, which connects the Vojtěch mine with the Anna mine.

Located in the Drkolnov underground mine is a massive water wheel, built in the mid-19th century and measuring 12.4 meters in diameter, specifically designed for pumping out mine water. This wheel is unique in the Czech Republic and is also one of the largest found in all of Europe. Younger visitors will especially enjoy a 51-meter-long slide that winds through a slanted underground tunnel, ending at this water wheel.

The open-air museum will welcome guests on 8 May from 9 am to 6 pm. Individual admission to the various mine tours costs 60 CZK, while family admission is priced at 150 CZK.
