Join the Ultimate Geek Gathering at Maker Faire Prague in Holešovice

Maker FaireMaker Faire brings together curious minds, innovators and creative enthusiasts—whether they are engaging in creating their own projects or experiencing inventions and experiments crafted by others. This family-friendly festival showcases the work of so-called makers. This term refers to individuals who create something, where making is seen as an adventure that encompasses tech aficionados, coding enthusiasts, hobbyists tinkering in their garages, artists, crafters, designers, and even those brewing their own homemade lemonade! The World Showcase of Creativity emphasizes areas such as Education, start-ups, artificial intelligence, open hardware, and open source technologies. Topics like new technologies, 3D printing, design, and even the trend of cultivating microgreens will certainly be featured. The eighth edition of this festival promises a diverse array of activities, featuring the latest technologies, engaging workshops, and attractions appealing to both tech lovers and the general audience.

Reasons to visit the Prague Exhibition Centre this weekend

Discover butterfly drones and robots in various forms—some even destructive

This year’s festival will put a spotlight on robots, particularly with the Xiaomi Robot Arena, where the renowned CTU FEL Robocompetition will be hosted. On Saturday, attendees can witness an impressive display featuring a swarm of flying drones through the Ornintonaut Lab project. There will also be unique destruction combat robot duels held in a dedicated outdoor tent—foreign teams will send their robots into battle, cutting, poking, and even setting them ablaze before quickly repairing them on-site. Additionally, prepare for a different type of “carnage” with the anticipated performance by the robotic band One Love Machine Band on the main stage.

Journey through zones of light and shadows

For the second consecutive year, the festival will shine a light on luminous creations. Within the special Zone of Light and Darkness, you’ll encounter glowing bioluminescent algae that emit light when fed, an interactive art piece called Vectroscope, a light lab, and the intriguing plasma light game. You can also spot luminous objects in various part of the exhibition, including the world premiere of the “first living stone” showcased in the BeingOne project—this extraordinary crystal can hear voices, detect radioactivity, and express itself through colors.

Unleash your creativity and make (almost) anything right on the spot

Maker FaireAmong the many workshops available at the festival, one notable offering allows you to create your very own wi-fi amplifier from a can or even build a robot for just 10 euros.

Kids will have the chance to draw on paper that changes color, build water rockets, write secret messages with invisible ink, or observe colorful reactions from various plant-based substances. Plus, there are also professional workshops for 3D printing and programming.

Discover innovative student projects and educational trends

bastl festAt the festival, you’ll get to meet Czech student innovators who have received international accolades, such as the team LASAR, which will showcase their advancements in the award-winning concept for remotely repairing space satellites. New to this festival will be the Teachers’ Tent, where educational experts will share valuable tips, and attendees can check out the creations by finalists from Play a record, build a turntable. There will also be educational demonstrations on the main stage, including engaging performances by ÚDIF (The Amazing Theater of Physics) and VCHT focusing on chemical magic and bioinformatics. A group of 16 globally popular YouTubers will discuss the popularization of science and making—alongside Czech maker Peca, who will show how to charge a mobile phone using only a candle.
