Czechia Sees Rising Visitor Numbers: A Promising Start to the Year with More Overnight Stays

Tourists from the USA and Asia are heading to Czechia more often
The data for the first quarter of this year confirms that tourism in Czechia has returned to pre-recession levels. The share of international tourists is rising, along with an increase in visitors from distant markets. The highest numbers of tourists came from:
  • USA: 67,033 (+4.28% year-on-year)
  • Israel: 48,625 (+58.31% year-on-year)
  • South Korea: 42,715 (-3.36% year-on-year)
  • Taiwan: 32,509 (-11.36% year-on-year)
  • China: 29,987 (+38.87% year-on-year)

Overall, most foreigners are visiting Prague, Královehradecky, and South Moravian regions.

“It is positive that the number of tourists staying in most regions has increased year-on-year. The data confirms our success in attracting visitors to lesser-known areas, not just the famous ones. We’re also pleased to see longer stays, with a 2.2% year-on-year increase in overnight visits totaling 5 million nights, particularly from tourists from Israel. Our campaigns—both the global one, which we just launched, and others throughout the year—continue to promote Czechia as a destination worth visiting. Additionally, a joint V4 campaign will highlight the country within Central Europe, focusing on China and connecting the region through history, culture, and gastronomy,”
said František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.
“We aim to extend stays and increase tourist spending. Currently, the most popular countries of origin are Germany, the USA, the UK, Northern Ireland, and Italy. We are also reaching out to distant markets, including China, Canada, and the Arab states.”

Prague leads, Karlovy Vary has the longest stays
