Unleash Your Curiosity: Join the National Festival of Museum Nights in Luhačovice

Every year, the range of programs varies greatly because each institution has its own unique approach to Museum Night. Participating museums and galleries often feature a specific theme, while some organizations modify their events to reflect current or newly opened exhibitions.

Additionally, there is a grand national opening of the festival each year. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, 16 May, 2025, at 14:00, located in the Sun Baths. The festive lineup will showcase the recognition of significant contributors to the field of museology from the Zlín Region, a concert by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, and presentations of various cultural institutions from the Zlín Region and the town of Luhačovice. Starting from 18:00, the Luhačovice Museum Night will kick off, offering a diverse program for the public.

The Museum Nights Festival provides a wonderful chance to explore museums and galleries behind the scenes, visit them at unusual hours, and experience culture in a fresh setting—under the night sky, often at no cost or for a small admission fee;

What can you look forward to during the exciting Luhačovice Museum Night? The Sun Baths will be available for visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. You can join free guided tours of the exhibition at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., or 9:30 p.m. These tours will showcase exhibitions about the history of the area, the tradition of spa hydrotherapy, and the remarkable work of architect Dušan Jurkovič and composer Leoš Janáček. Throughout the evening, there will be a workshop titled Water – Sun – Air! featuring activities related to Luhačovice air navigation poised for both kids and adults on the terrace of the Sun Baths. From 19:30 to 21:00, enjoy a guided walk through Prague’s neighborhoods, exploring the history of the villas and their residents, with a tour of Villa Kancnýřka starting at the ticket office of the Sun Baths (limited to 30 participants). Another notable attraction is the exhibition titled “Pictures from the history of spa treatment.”

The Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín, p. o. – Museum of Luhačovice Zálesí will be open from 18:00 to 22:00. You can view the permanent exhibitions titled Known and Unknown Luhačovice and Cabinet of Dušan Jurkovič.

The “Auto-moto-colonnade” exhibition revolves around the history of car and motorcycle races in Luhačovice from 1928 to 1947 and is also located at the Museum of Luhačovice Zálesí. Guided tours will commence from 7:30 p.m. You can also enjoy a photo corner featuring historical costumes, along with a children’s play area. Learn about the prominent riders and the profiles of Czech motorcycle and automotive companies that participated in Luhačovice races. If you miss the exhibition during the Festival of Museum Nights, you can still visit it at the museum until 28 December 2025.
