Explore the World at the Prague Fringe Festival 2025: Discover India and Global Theatres in Malá Strana

Prague FringePrague Fringe has transformed from a small festival with a few hundred attendees in 2002 into a vibrant event that draws as many as 6,000 visitors each year. The festival is inspired by a tradition that started in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1947, which continues to be the largest arts festival globally.

This festival typically occurs in the Lesser Town at various venues, including the Malostranská Beseda Club, Inspiration Theatre, A Studio Rubín, Metro Comedy Club, Café Club Míšeňská, and the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians. With 42 productions and over 130 distinct performances this year, the festival is excited to bring back beloved Fringe favorites like Pip Utton and Gareth Armstrong, whose acclaimed solo show Shylock marked the inaugural Prague Fringe in 2002. All performances are conducted in English. This year features a special Indian section. Whether you’re a dedicated Fringe enthusiast or experiencing it for the first time, this year’s Prague Fringe invites you to explore the exciting side of theatre!

This Year’s Highlighted Programme

Mark WatsonOne of the standout performers this year is British comedian Mark Watson, renowned for his sharp humor and rapid-fire wit, featured on popular BBC shows like Mock the Week and Taskmaster. He will headline a lavish comedy programme, produced in collaboration with the Prague Metro Comedy Club, which will be dedicated to showcasing stand-up and sketches for an entire week.

fringeAnother highlight of the programme is the Festival of India, featuring four unique productions from India, the world’s largest nation by population — a delightful blend of spoken word, comedy, and theatre. Noteworthy performances include Love, Laughter & Longing, a heartfelt piece by Priya Malik and Simar Singh that delves into themes of identity and desire, as well as The Chai Queens – A Tale of Love & Longing, a theatrical exploration of love and family expectations, weaving narratives that resonate across various cultures.

Queer Fringe this year showcases bold, genre-blurring works that challenge identity, pleasure, and social justice. Don’t miss Fckboy, a raw and humorous exploration of gender dysphoria and the trans experience; Black Dress, a celebrated solo performance that honors resilience and defiance in queer culture; and Deeptime Atomic Waste Pleasure Party, an imaginative and hedonistic adventure into queer eco-futurism.
