Discover Jurassic Wonders in the Czech Republic: Your Ultimate Guide to Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Adventures

The Czech Republic, while not a major player like Argentina, Mongolia, or the United States in the field of dinosaur fossils—where complete skeletons are often found—does offer fantastic opportunities to see these magnificent creatures up close in various locations. One of the best options is visiting the DinoParks, but don’t miss the chance to explore the innovative Dinosauria Museum and immerse yourself in the prehistoric world showcased in Zdeněk Burian’s artworks. You can also meet the only dinosaur known to originate from the Czech Republic, displayed in the Windows to Prehistory permanent exhibition at the National Museum in Prague. Additionally, we’ll provide you with other great suggestions for an amazing trip back to the Mesozoic era!

DinoPark Liberec, DinoPark Pilsen, and DinoPark Ostrava

DinosaurWhether your fascination with dinosaurs comes from watching the Jurassic Park movies—ranging from the original film in 1993 to the upcoming Jurassic World: Resurgence slated for 2025—or from Zdeněk Burian’s stunning illustrations, visiting one of the five local DinoParks is sure to delight both kids and adults alike. These parks are beloved attractions, so just pick a good time and location that works for you.

The only DinoPark that operates year-round across three floors can be found at the Plaza Shopping Center in Liberec. Here, you can enjoy lifelike prehistoric scenes enriched with various effects, including a recreation of the Big Bang, man-made fog, and even a vibrant storm complete with rain. Kids can explore a palaeontological playground and exciting activities like the DinoTrek and DinoLaser trail. You’ll also find a DinoShop for souvenirs, a DinoCafé, and a DinoGrill for refreshments.

DinoPark PilsenIf you’re looking for the very first DinoPark ever created, head to the DinoPark in Pilsen, located in the woods above the local zoo. Here among lifelike Mesozoic models, you’ll find moving dinosaurs and even a massive Apatosaurus model that can conceal an entire kindergarten below it. This park is open from early April to late October.

The DinoPark Ostrava, which is the largest in the country, is another option you’ll love. It features numerous robotic dinosaur models and sound exhibits. You can enjoy a tour of the area aboard the DinoExpress train and even see an active Mesozoic volcano.

DinoPark in Vyškov: A Small Jurassic Park

DinoPark VyškovDinoPark in Vyškov offers an experience quite similar to the movie Jurassic Park. As you walk through the grand entrance gate, you will find dinosaurs nestled in a forest at the edge of the city. Note that there is no ticket office or parking, and the only way in is through the Vyškov Zoo Park, where a special DinoExpress bus will take you to the park. This DinoPark boasts a 4D cinema, a palaeontological playground, and an impressive 311-meter long suspended ropes course. You can enjoy the park until it closes and then take the train back. Don’t forget, the ticket price also grants you entry to the regular zoo, so budget your time wisely to enjoy both. Even on rainy days, you won’t be left out; classic buses will transport you instead of trains. DinoPark in Vyškov is open from early April to late October.
