Discover the Moravian Karst: Explore the Historic Ironworks Near Adamov

HutIn the area surrounding the smelter, there will be an exhibition that is open to everyone where you can enjoy a live demonstration of iron smelting in a replica furnace, watch the process of burning charcoal in a charcoal mill, observe how tar is produced, see colored metals being cast using traditional techniques into clay molds, experience lime firing in a peasant-style lime kiln, grind flour on a hand mill, and bake bread in a recreated medieval oven. Additionally, there will be visual displays showcasing the lives of ancient Slavs.

The event, titled Slavs at the Smelter, is made possible through collaboration with the DAGA association. The historical site features the remains of a blast furnace known as Františka, a loading ramp, a pair of traditional lime kilns, some residential structures, and what used to be a model factory. This location also serves as one of the key starting points for the network of educational trails along the Iron Way through the Moravian Karst, which is included in the European Cultural Heritage initiative known as the Central European Iron Way. Please note that there are limited parking facilities available at the site, so attendees are invited to park along the roadside. This year, the historic bus from the TMB collection will not be offering transport between Adamov and Stara Huta. Entrance fees are set at 30 CZK for adults, while children can enter free of charge.
