Explore Slovácko’s Weekend of Monument Houses – Discover One-of-a-Kind Exhibits

This June, during the first weekend, the Slovácko region will host its special event called Heritage Cottages Weekend. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to explore heritage houses, folk architecture, and small museums without needing to book a tour ahead of time. It’s a unique chance that occurs just once a year, and this year, it’s happening on June 7 and 8, 2025! The locations are conveniently linked by cycle paths for easier exploration. On both days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, a total of 60 sites will be open, extending from Napajedely in the north to Lanžhot in the south! Visitors can enjoy a diverse array of attractions, including charming white houses with blue borders, exhibits showcasing folk traditions and crafts, as well as technical landmarks like windmills and watermills, among many other exciting features. This year introduces five new sites to the lineup, such as the Květná 1794 Glassworks, the Winemaker’s Museum in Lanžhot, the Domanín Museum and Gallery, the Napajedlo Museum, and the Municipal Museum showcasing Archaeological Finds in Ostrožská Nová Ves. Each of these sites presents unique experiences and accompanying programs that promise to enhance your leisurely weekend journeys around Slovácko.
During this event, you’ll have the chance to tour monuments and traditional buildings in a variety of regional museums, and view exhibits in ways you don’t usually get to experience. It offers a glimpse into everyday village life, showcasing farms with the routine tasks that accompany various seasons… geraniums in the windows, freshly laid white blankets, and always a tidy table as the heart of every home, tiled stoves, as well as pictures and sculptures of saints and patrons, prayer books, and rosaries. New sites participating this year include: the Museum at Šťáhlový in Javorník, the Kuželov Windmill, the farmstead number 29 in Žítková, and the Memorial of Mrštík Brothers in Diváky. Entrance to these homes, museums, monuments, and exhibits is free, or there may be a voluntary fee, or it may be based on the local operator’s price list.
To celebrate this event, for the fourth time, there will be a special tourist card available that highlights four participating locations each year. Collectors can add a new monument to their collection each time they attend. You can purchase the card at some sites or at the Municipal Information Centre in Uherské Hradiště.
