Hop on the Tourist Bus to Brdské Lesy!

The Brdy busFor those who are unable to access the edges of the Brda forests by car or bicycle, the town of Příbram has introduced the weekend and holiday route, line No. 505. This bus line travels from Orlov to Příbram, making stops at Březové Hory, Lazec, and Bohutín, before heading to Kozičín and returning back. The entirety of this journey takes approximately thirty minutes.

Buses depart from Orlov starting at 9am and continue every hour and a half until 5:30pm. In the opposite direction, the first bus from Kozičín, traveling through Příbram back to Orlov, departs at 8:20 am. Although the line also runs on weekdays, it is during weekends and public holidays that it allows bicycles on board. The bus on this line can accommodate a maximum of ten bicycles. The fare is based on the public transport rates in Příbram, and there is no additional cost for bringing a bike. You can reach Příbram via the fast train service on line R26 from Prague, České Budějovice, or Písek, as well as the S60 from Beroun or Blatná, with an additional train running from Rožmital pod Třemšínem.

Where to Explore in Brdy?

Brdy, which opened up for public exploration a few years ago, now features an increasing number of marked hiking and cycling trails. Starting directly from Orlov, you can easily enjoy a 5 km long Orlov-Třemošná nature trail, which is family-friendly and guided by a virtual forester named Jirka. He will help you learn to identify different trees, explain the work that foresters do, and clarify the purpose of fences. Additionally, he has created other engaging activities along the way.

For more experienced hikers, a hike up to Tok, the highest mountain in the Brdská vrchovina and the entire Central Bohemian Region, is a must. The nearly eight-kilometer-long Tok Nature Trail gives insights into the harsh living conditions found on this mountain’s slope. Slightly further down towards Obecnice, it’s worthwhile to check out the rocky hill and the Klobouček Nature Reserve, including the forestry NS Klobouček.

Kozičín serves as an excellent starting point for both hikers and cyclists heading to the beautiful Pilská reservoir. From this location, you can find an extensive network of trails and pathways leading to various stunning spots in the mountains.
