Step into History: Experience the Epic Reconstruction of the Battle of Lipany This Saturday

Battle of Lipany MemorialEvents Commemorates a historic battle that occurred at Lipany 591 years ago, specifically on May 30, 1434. This battle marked the end of 15 years of intense and bloody conflict known as the Hussite Revolution. Before this battle, there was an unsuccessful siege of Český Brod, carried out by the troops of the Pan Coalition, which was under the command of Divis Bořek of Miletínek—who was ironically a former comrade of Zizka. The siege aimed to draw the field troops into the town to engage them in an open battle. Today, the modern Battle of Lipany will take place on Saturday, May 31, right beneath the monument dedicated to the historic battle.

The festivities on Saturday will commence at 11:00 a.m., featuring an open Historical marketplace where visitors can purchase a variety of goods. Throughout the day, there will be an hourly accompanying program.
You’ll have the chance to explore and observe a military camp represented from the period, along with watching demonstrations showcasing military tactics from the early fifteenth century. Expect to see demonstrations of combat skills, fighting techniques, and swordsmanship. There will also be presentations by artillerymen and shooters using small arms or firearms popular in the fifteenth century (including crossbows, slingshots, fustibals, and more). Their performances will be enhanced by lively period music played by the group Peregrine. Participants can even learn some historical dances. The program will contain children’s games, competitions, and arts and crafts designed for family-friendly enjoyment. The entire day will culminate in the afternoon with a dramatic reenactment of the renowned battle that concluded the Hussite Wars.

Guided battle demonstration is scheduled to begin at 15:00. Admission is set at 100 CZK for adults, while children can attend for free. The battle reenactment will proceed regardless of the weather.
