Exciting New Nonstop Flight: Etihad Airways Launches Prague to Abu Dhabi Service!

“We are very pleased to announce that after extensive negotiations, we have successfully established a partnership with Etihad Airways, which has never operated at our airport before. This new route we’ve launched in collaboration with Etihad Airways aligns with our strategy to gradually expand our long-haul offerings. We anticipate that this connection will quickly become popular among travelers. According to our estimates, over 57,000 passengers could take advantage of it by the end of this year,” shares Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.
Etihad Airways will operate a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Prague to Abu Dhabi route, accommodating 290 passengers in both economy and business class. The flight will operate four times a week: on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
“Our new route presents various opportunities for travelers,” says Arik De, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Etihad Airways. He adds, “With this new service, we are creating a connection between two remarkable regions, linking passengers from the Middle East to the heart of Europe. Additionally, travelers can easily access connecting flights via Abu Dhabi to destinations across Asia, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent.”
“Direct flights from distant markets are crucial for attracting high-value tourists to Czechia. Etihad’s connections provide access not only from the UAE but also from further locations such as India and Southeast Asia. This service offers a comfortable and appealing travel option that meets the expectations of more discerning clients. We see significant potential for Czechia and domestic tourism in these sectors,” emphasizes František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.
Travelers from the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern nations—like Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Turkey—tend to be financially stable clients who stay longer. Last year, over 379,000 tourists from the Middle East visited Czechia, with their average stay exceeding 4 days, which is notably higher than the national average of 3.4 days. They often choose Prague and the Karlovy Vary Region, searching for spa services, shopping, and family-oriented experiences. Sustainable travel and unique experiences are increasingly appealing to them. An additional 80,000 visitors arrived from India. Thus, Etihad Airways’ new direct service further promotes inbound tourism from these vital markets.
Abu Dhabi, the capital and largest city of the United Arab Emirates, beautifully blends tradition with modernity. Visitors can marvel at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which covers 12 hectares and accommodates up to 41,000 worshippers. Art lovers might explore the local branch of the Louvre Museum or enjoy the captivating light, sound, and movement displays at the TeamLab Phenomena complex. For Formula 1 enthusiasts, the Yas Marina circuit hosts the final race of the season in December. Moreover, Yas Island features several family-friendly theme parks, including Ferrari World, dedicated to the famed Italian car manufacturer.
