Experience Unforgettable Summer Festivals 2025

1. Prague and Metronome or Letní Letná

The eighth edition of the Metronome Prague Festival will take place at the Prague Exhibition Centre in Holešovice from June 19 to 21, 2025. One of the highlights of the festival will be the performance by Canadian alt-rock superstar Alanis Morissette on Saturday, June 21. Fans can expect to hear her classic hits like “Thank U,” “You Oughta Know,” and “Ironic,” among many others from her nearly 30-year career. Alongside her, you will also enjoy performances from popular Czech artists such as Aneta Langerova, Barbara Poláková, Klára Vytiskova, and Michal Prokop with the legendary band Framus Five, which has been a fixture in the music scene since the 1960s.

A beloved summer event in Prague is Summer Letná, a festival dedicated to new circus, theatre, music, and visual arts at Letná Sady. The twenty-first edition of Letní Letná will showcase the best of new circus from August 13 to 31, 2025. Besides the exciting evening shows, attendees can also look forward to a comprehensive theatre program designed for children, as well as a variety of accompanying activities that are mostly free and run throughout the day. These activities include workshops, art displays, circus acts, concerts, and outdoor events.

2. Central Bohemia Region and Kutná Hora Cultural Summer

Experience a vibrant month of culture during Kutná Hora Summer 2025, running from July 1 to August 31. The schedule in Kutná Hora and at the beautiful Empire-style Kačina Chateau is packed with theatre performances, adventurous night tours of notable places such as Sedlec Cathedral, the ossuary, St. Barbara’s Cathedral, and unique explorations of St. Voršila Monastery. In Vlašský dvůr, various different tours and theatrical performances will be held, often in the evening or featuring costumed tours that provide a fresh perspective on some of the most stunning sites Kutná Hora has to offer, transforming their atmosphere through time and light.

3. South Bohemia Region and the International Music Festival Český Krumlov

An exceptional setting and an unforgettable experience define the International Music Festival Český Krumlov. This festival will take place in the breathtaking grounds of Český Krumlov Castle and Chateau, as well as various other amazing venues in the town, all of which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the focus of the festival is mainly on classical music, it also features concerts spanning multiple genres, including jazz, folk, musicals, and opera. Once again, this summer will see Český Krumlov filled with world music culture, showcasing trends from the 15th to the 21st century from July 11 to August 5, 2025. The 34th Krumlov Festival will host hundreds of artists from every corner of the globe, including Europe, Asia, and both North and South America.

4. Pilsen Region and the Baroque Festival and Summer at Prazdroj

Offering unique experiences at fascinating locations, the Summer Baroque Festival will showcase programs at various Baroque monuments throughout the Pilsen Region. Attendees can enjoy classical music, theatrical performances, parades, dance, seasonal delights, displays of Baroque fragrances, traditional cuisine, and lively entertainment. The celebrations will run from June 7 to September 13, 2025.

For music lovers, the Summer at Prazdroj 2025 festival will be an excellent option. Not only will popular big beat bands rock the courtyard of Plzeňský Prazdroj, but patrons can also savor refreshing beers amidst delicious food. Throughout July and August, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. In addition to concerts on Thursdays highlighting big beat, concert Wednesdays will also be part of the schedule. The music will begin at 20:00, but guests can arrive as early as 18:00 to enjoy the pre-show activities and competitions, all while soaking up a laid-back atmosphere. On warmer days, attendees will surely appreciate a cold beer served straight from the tap. Additionally, the festival will feature summer cinema events on Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, as well as two September activities—the autumn edition of the beer and culture festival Brūstok and the Gambrinus Rock Fest.

5. Karlovy Vary Region and the Film Festival

KVIFFThe 59th International Film Festival Karlovy Vary will unfold from July 4 to July 12, 2025. Founded in 1946, this festival is recognized as one of the oldest film festivals in Europe. Initially started in Mariánské Lázně, it later made its permanent move to Karlovy Vary. A special retrospective will honor the cinematic works of Franz Kafka, and the festival will also celebrate the iconic Hollywood star of the 1940s, John Garfield. The President’s Award for outstanding contributions to Czech cinema, the IMF Karlovy Vary President’s Award, will be presented during the closing ceremony to editor Jiří Brožek, who has won the prestigious Czech Lion Award nine times and has been involved in over a hundred Czech films and television projects.

6. Ústí Region and Altros Rockfest Lovosice

The Altros Rockfest Lovosice will once again rock the Osmička Forest Park. Taking place July 18 – 19, 2025, the lineup includes popular bands such as Mňága a Žďorp, Totální nasazení, XIII. století, Nežfaleš, Vrát’a Hošek, and Punk Floid. There will also be the annual beer drinking contest, where fearless participants will aim to beat the five-second record. The friendly atmosphere makes Altros Rockfest a favorite and long-running event in the Ústí nad Labem region.

7. Liberec Region and the Venice Festival!

The historic Venice Festival!, which first started in 1993 at the Yellow Swimming Pool in the Jizera Valley at Malá Skála, has grown tremendously over the years. As the festival expanded its number of performers and stages, it was relocated; the 20th anniversary celebration in 2012 was held at a new site in the Vesec area on the outskirts of Liberec. This year, the festival will take place from July 24 to 27, 2025. It continues to provide top-tier local music performances along with international stars, appealing to families and guests of all ages. This year’s lineup includes performers such as Ewa Farna, Olympic, Deer, Rybičky 48, Harley, Padlock, Alkehol, Heidi and HeidiBand, Motorband, and many others.

8. Hradec Králové Region and Brutal Assault

Brutal AssaultThe Hradec Králové region will be buzzing with festivals this summer, with one of the biggest being Brutal Assault 2025. Known as one of the largest metal festivals in Europe, it will take place from August 6 to 9, 2025, at its traditional location in the military fortress of Josefov near Jaroměř. Spanning four days, the festival will feature numerous bands from around the world on its multiple stages. The 18th-century military fortress is a unique setting for a music festival, offering an intriguing layout reminiscent of a small town, complete with stone pubs, quaint squares, and cozy areas sheltered from the weather within its walls.

9. Pardubice Region and Castles CZ and Smetana’s Litomyšl

The beloved Castles CZ festival will tour through beautiful castles across the country, stopping at Kunětická hora near Pardubice on July 18-19, 2025. Look forward to performances by artists like Dymytry, Bena Cristovao, the band Wild Bill, Tomáš Klus, Padlock, Wanastovy vjecy, and Coat.

Additionally, the Smetana Litomyšl National Festival is gearing up for its 67th edition in 2025. The charming town of Litomyšl will come alive with music from June 14 to July 6. The theme of this year’s festival is Passion, and after two editions held in the Festival Hall, the organizers are excited to return to the enchanting setting of Litomyšl Castle. The activities will also include Smetana’s Art Litomyšl and Festival Gardens.

10. Highlands and Folk Holidays and Holidays in Telč

Folk HolidaysThe Vysočina region will be buzzing with folk celebrations in July and August, highlighted by two major festivals: Folk Holidays at the Castle in Náměšt’ nad Oslavou, which will run from July 26 to August 2, 2025. This festival is actually a combination of various events, featuring a main music program, nightly concerts in extraordinary settings, and a large festival of music, dance, art, and text workshops called Nest of Muses. There will also be an Open Scene mini-festival featuring folk musicians, expert-led discussions on folk music, and exhibitions themed around music and the arts. This year, look forward to performances from Bára Hrzánová & Condurango, Jiří Pavlica & Hradistan, and numerous other talented artists from countries like South Africa, Cuba, Ireland, and the Ivory Coast.

Another delightful event is the Family Music Festival Holidays in Telč, scheduled from July 25 to August 10, 2025. It promises an array of bands and a full theatrical performance set against the picturesque backdrop of the Renaissance town. Concerts will be hosted in the castle courtyard starting at 7:30 p.m. Expect fantastic acts such as Ondřej Havelka and his Melody Makers, Karel Plíhal, the Brothers Ebenové, and many more.

11. South Moravian Region and Ignis Brunensis with a festival of entertainment

During the summer, Brno comes alive with the Festival of Fun, with its standout event being the international fireworks show, Ignis Brunensis. The fireworks display will kick off this year from June 13 to 25, 2025, featuring spectacular pyromusical performances synchronized to music. Additionally, the festival will include the ever-popular Entertainment under the Walls—exciting weekend shows in the heart of Brno. Another annual favorite is the Traffic Nostalgia festival, the largest transportation festival in South Moravia, where you can expect a showcase of classic and retro cars along with rides for the public.

12. Zlín Region and Vizovice Trnkobraní

If you’re looking to enjoy the summer while listening to bands like MIG 21, Fleret, Michal Hrůza, 05 and Radeček, Queenie, and Kamil Střihavka, then head to Vizovice Trnkobraní, a favorite summer plum festival held every year in mid-August. This year’s event will occur from August 22 to 24, 2025, at the Rudolf Jelínek liquor factory, where the renowned slivovitz brand is produced. Attendees can look forward to a plum dumpling-eating contest open to all, guided tours of the town, a craft fair, and opportunities to bake frgály or explore cooking with sloes.

13. Olomouc Region and the Colores Flamencos Olomouc Festival

For a few days in the summer, Olomouc will become alive with Spanish rhythms, flavors, and fragrances. From July 24 to 27, 2025, the city will host the international festival of flamenco and Spanish culture, Colores Flamencos. This event is recognized as one of the most significant festivals of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, and the best part is that the entire program is free of charge. Expect to see stunning performances by dancers and musicians, take part in dance workshops, and savor delicious Spanish cuisine. There will also be a flamenco gala, a flamenco fiesta, and even workshops where you can learn how to dance flamenco. Other highlights will include a showcase of Spanish cinema, concerts, and delightful culinary experiences.

14. Moravian-Silesian Region and the Colours of Ostrava Festival

In the unique industrial landscape of the former steelworks, ironworks, and mines in Dolní Vítkovice, the Colours of Ostrava festival has been held annually since 2002. It features a variety of venues including the Bolt Café on the blast furnace, Gong Hall in the old gasworks, art installations, and both the Design Zone and Small World of Technology alongside the Big World of Technology, and a dedicated ČEZ Family Park for children. Scheduled from July 16 to 19, 2025, this multi-genre international music festival will feature hundreds of programs covering everything from concerts to discussions, theatre performances, films, and workshops. On the music side, attendees can expect a plethora of genres from rock and electronic to pop and jazz. This year’s lineup includes performances from artists like Iggy Pop, Justice, Alvaro Soler, Calin, and Dan Bárta & Illustratosphere.
