This upcoming weekend, on June 7 and 8, 2025, there will be special guided tours for particularly curious and eager visitors. These tours will provide access to both the accessible and hidden semi-wild gardens and the Cave of St. Procopius. According to records from medieval times, the hermit Prokop was said to have cast out a thousand demons and overcame the arrows of the devil from within this cave, which was rediscovered by P. Method Klement, OSB, the parish priest of Sázava, during the mid-20th century.

Sázava MonasteryThe guided tour will introduce you to an exciting discovery made in 2023, specifically an archaeological find of a medieval house above St. John’s Cave and the cellars beneath the east garden! This exclusive tour is designed for those who are curious, knowledgeable, and disciplined, specifically individuals aged 10 and older who have an interest in history and archaeology. During the tour, you will learn about the rich history and future of the gardens and cellars being explored and even watch a short time-lapse documentary about the discovery of the medieval house located above the cave. Plus, there’s an interior surprise in store for you!

Guided tours can accommodate up to 10 participants, and must be reserved in advance, with confirmation from the Sázava Monastery. Please note that the tours are not suitable for children under 10 years of age or individuals with reduced mobility. The tours will commence at 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00 and typically last around 90 minutes or slightly longer. The entrance fee is 220 CZK per person.
