Explore Wallachia with Juro the Bear

Over the last six years, visitors participating in games featuring Jura the Bear have discovered 120 different locations in Wallachia. The excitement continues to increase: it attracts not just locals from Wallachia and neighboring areas but also tourists from much farther away who visit Wallachia during their summer vacations and are looking for exciting excursion ideas.

This year, adventurers will explore various locations, such as the goat trail in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, the Laďa Spring near Velké Karlovice, the lesser-known Poskla Nature Monument featuring a peat bog, and the Šorstýn hill near Horní Bečva, which boasts a fairytale trail. Moreover, visitors can check out a new viewing area overlooking Francova Lhota. Better-known spots include the park around the Kinský Chateau in Valašské Meziříčí and the barefoot trail in the arboretum located in Vsetín. Two sites – the memorial in Nový Hrozenkov and the partisan log cabin in Liptal – honor the bravery of the Vlachs during the Second World War.

Additionally, Destination Wallachia has teamed up with nearby tourism organizations, offering tourists the chance to visit attractions like the forest railway in Rajnochovice in the Kroměříž region, the Hodišov lookout point in Vizovice from the Zlín region, and the U Dubánka relaxation area in the Frýdek-Místek region.

Discovering Wallachia via an app, QR codes, and a photo contest

Tourists can find details about all locations, including a QR code that gives the exact location of the stamp, in a printed brochure available for CZK 30 at 19 tourist information centers. There is also a mobile app at mobilni.app/web/knowvalassko. Participants who complete the game by collecting all 20 stamps on their card by September 30, 2025, will be eligible for a final prize draw featuring over 100 valuable rewards.

As in the previous year, participants can also take part in the popular photo contest. Anyone who captures photos of at least two wooden bear statues, as listed in the game brochure, will be entered into a draw for prizes from the mayors of Vsetín, Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, and Valašské Meziříčí.

Explore the beauty of Wallachia through the regional adventure game, “Getting to Know Wallachia.” This engaging activity leads participants to both well-known attractions and hidden gems across the region, all while offering the chance to win fantastic prizes.

  The 7th edition of “Getting to Know Wallachia” began on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
  The main aim is to promote Wallachia and boost tourism in the area.

• How the Game Works:
  Participants visit various sites such as the goat trail in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Laďa Spring near Velké Karlovice, and the scenic viewpoint above Francova Lhota.
  Jura the bear serves as the game’s symbol and imaginary guide.

  Players collect stamps at different hiking spots, guided by a special brochure that includes detailed route descriptions and maps.
