Discover the Enchanting Echoes of Macocha: Escape Boredom in the Moravian Karst Caves!
This festival offers a distinctive musical experience and has created a new tradition of concerts featuring light effects in the breathtaking setting of karst caves. The concerts held in the Moravian Karst caves are a special blend of beautiful melodies, light animations, and the natural beauty of the caves, providing audiences with exceptional and immersive experiences. The Magic Tones of Macocha festival seeks to showcase significant musical pieces performed by top Czech artists while also highlighting the notable areas of natural beauty within the Czech Republic.
This year, for the first time, music lovers will enjoy the spectacular acoustics of the Moravian Karst caves in Blansko. The popular series of four evening concerts titled The Magical Tones of Macocha will occur from June 5 to June 8, 2025. Concerts will begin each night at 6 PM. Because the temperature inside the caves ranges from 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, it is highly recommended that attendees dress warmly. Additionally, organizers strongly encourage all ticket holders to arrive well in advance since parking is not available directly at the caves. A shuttle bus service will be provided from nearby parking areas to the caves.
Programme of the Magical Tones of Machocha 2025
The festival will kick off on Thursday, June 5, in the Výpustek cave near Křtin and will feature the Grande Moravia Orchestra led by Ladislav Pavlus, a unique ensemble known for its high artistic quality. The concert, titled That Time in the West, will showcase some of Ennio Morricone’s most beautiful film scores. The enchanting sounds of cymbals will be elevated by vibrant light animations and a unique video presentation in the cave, creating an unforgettable cinematic atmosphere.
On Friday, June 6, the performance will shift to the Punk Cave, where Lenka Nová and Petr Malásek will present their contrasting styles with a show called Moods in the dome at the Mirror Lake. This musical performance will highlight Lenka Nová’s powerful lyrics and remarkable alto voice along with piano accompaniment, allowing you to savor her best works in brand new arrangements created with the talented pianist and composer Petr Malásek.
On Saturday, June 7, the talented barefoot organist Katta will present her dynamic and mystical musical creations in the extraordinary setting of Punkva Caves, near the Mirror Lake. Her stunning white organ will fill the space with sound, providing a concert that is both angelically ethereal and energetically charged.
Finally, on Sunday, June 8, the concerts will move to the Sloupsko-Sošov Caves. Audiences can expect to be entertained by Ondřej Ruml, a unique singer and showman who skillfully creates entire songs using only his voice and a looper. Prepare for an inventive concert that will be full of surprises and rhythmic energy. Ondřej uses the looper device to craft all his songs live, performing without the need for any additional musical instruments.
