Experience the Enchantment of Bull Rock Cave: Join Us for Traditional Open Days

This year’s Open Days at Bull Rock are happening this weekend for the very first time. The paths inside the cave have been made more accessible, but they are not paved like the official caves that are open to the public. Because of this, we suggest that you wear sturdy shoes and bring some warmer clothes, such as long pants and a sweater or jacket. The cavers also want you to know that it is not allowed to visit the cave with a dog. Please make sure to register for the tour, as the event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine.
If you are a frequent visitor to Bull Rock, you might find it surprising that this year’s first Open Day did not take place until June. This delay was to ensure the protection of nesting birds of prey.
The Bull Rock caves are located in the Josefov valley, nestled between the towns of Adamov and Křtiny. Together with the Rudice sinkhole, it makes up the second longest cave system in the Czech Republic (after the Amateur Cave) with an impressive total length exceeding 13 kilometres. Noteworthy discoveries here were made by Dr. Jiri Wankel, who found a Hallstatt burial site containing over 40 skeletons along with various objects from the Bronze Age. Another remarkable find includes a bronze bull statue crafted by the Felkl brothers.
Cave tours will be available on June 14-15, June 21-22, and June 28-29 2025. The Open Days are a unique occasion supported by the Administration of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. This event is organized in collaboration with the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic.
