Exciting Military Event Mud 2025 Happening This Saturday

Starting Saturday morning at the training area Bahna near Strašice, there will be between two and three hundred pieces of military equipment displayed. Ground forces will showcase to visitors through both static and dynamic demonstrations various wheeled and tracked combat vehicles along with small arms. Tanks like the Leopard 2A4, infantry fighting vehicles like the BVP-2, wheeled armored vehicles like the Pandur II, light armored vehicles including the Iveco LMV, and the newly introduced vehicles Titus will be on full display. Dynamic demonstrations will feature interactions between mechanized units, artillery fire support, and casualty transport. There will also be interventions by units from the Police of the Czech Republic, the Fire and Rescue Service, and the Prison Service.
The event-packed program kicks off on Saturday, June 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the tankodrome close to Strašice. It will begin with a promenade concert featuring Military Music, followed at 10:00 a.m. with paratroopers parachuting in and a parade. The AČR and foreign armies’ Mud 2025 program is set to feature over 400 soldiers and 200 pieces of equipment, including soldiers from two key brigades of the Czech Army along with their latest gear.
An important highlight of the event consists of demonstrations by military history clubs that will act out significant moments from the military history of the regions that make up the Czech lands. This year, attendees can expect several smaller historical performances as well as a nearly one-hour demonstration themed around May 1945, honoring the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II. Additionally, various units of the Ministry of Defence and the Integrated Rescue System will have their own presentations at Mud. The Police of the Czech Republic will exhibit their skills with a helicopter flight, the Prison Service will simulate an attack on an escort, Firefighters will perform a rescue from a crashed vehicle, and the Military Police will act against a dangerous group of offenders.
Exhibition of Techniques and Combat Situation Demonstrations
Visitors will once again relish the sounds of roaring engines and the grinding of armored vehicle tracks, along with the booming of artillery and the sounds of assault rifles firing. Airborne commandos, mechanized brigade infantry, and rapid deployment brigades will temporarily occupy an otherwise quiet space to give visitors a glimpse of what ground forces are capable of.
This year will feature dynamic and static demonstrations of equipment not only from ground forces but also from other units. For example, the Titus armored vehicle, chemical reconnaissance vehicles, Pandur II wheeled combat vehicles, light armored Iveco vehicles, Dana self-propelled howitzers, along with heavy tracked units including Leopard 2A4 tanks and BVP-2 infantry fighting vehicles will be showcased. In the static displays, attendees will have the chance to closely examine the current weaponry of the Czech Army, which includes a diverse range of other firearms. As usual, there will be a display of historical equipment, attracting visitors of all ages every year.
There will be an exciting demonstration by the Police of the Czech Republic featuring an ambush on a motorcade and the rescue of an individual who has become separated. Czech army soldiers will set up a simulated ambush, showcasing tactics from an airborne platoon, an assault by a mechanized platoon, or displaying a firing platoon in action. Exciting aerial acrobatics and a scenario dubbed “Apprehending a group of individuals involved in particularly grave crimes during a period of unstable security in a post-war setting” are also scheduled. Another popular feature will be the exhibition of products from the defense and civilian industries.
Participants from ground forces will be part of the 35th anniversary event highlighting foreign armies. The Slovak army has confirmed their participation with their BPzVI reconnaissance vehicle and Zuzana howitzer, along with Polish troops showcasing combat vehicles like Borsuk, Rosomak, the self-propelled mortar Rak, the Krab self-propelled howitzer, and unmanned systems. They will be joined after a significant gap by American soldiers.
How to Get to the Mud?
As is tradition, entry to the event is free, and parking can be found in the municipal car parks of Dobřív and Strasice. From these locations, it is a short walk of about 2.8 km to reach the venue; special bus services will be arranged near the parking areas to transport visitors to and from the Bahna site.
This year’s event builds on the success of the 2024 edition, which was attended by the Minister of Defence Jana Černochová, high-ranking officials from the Czech Army, and the President of the Republic Petr Pavel. Attendance by top representatives from both the state and the military is also expected for the 2025 edition. This event is regularly organized by the Headquarters of the Ground Forces of the Czech Armed Forces alongside the Ground Forces Foundation. Ground Forces Day is not merely a demonstration of our soldiers’ professionalism and preparedness, but also a significant occasion for fostering a strong bond between the military and the public.
