Ostrava Poruba Gets Vibrant: A Festival in the Streets to Banish Boredom!

The longest days of the year, specifically Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June 2025, will be dedicated to the well-loved Poruba Festival in the Streets featuring art from 17 different countries! Expect to see street artists, folk singers and musicians, along with talented vendors offering a diverse array of food, drinks, and gifts. These lively performers will fill both the familiar festival spots and exciting new areas with delightful smells, creative music, and friendly laughter. Families can look forward to a dedicated Kids Zone, delicious food, a wine festival, and a bustling market showcasing handmade goods by Czech artists. And just like every year, there will be free entry.
This year’s festival features a wide variety of entertainment to appeal to visitors of all ages and preferences. There will be more than 200 artists, many of whom are known for street art or performing on the streets. Expect to see clowns and mimes from Israel, Chile, Spain, and Italy bringing joy and excitement with amazing acrobatic tricks. Plus, popular masked parades and modern flow art from Hong Kong will add to the festive atmosphere. The beauty of the Festival in the Streets lies in its ability to create a lively interaction between the audience and the artists, turning passers-by into active participants. That’s what makes this festival unforgettable – a sense of shared experience, connection, and communication. Each night will traditionally conclude with Moravian cymbal melodies in the square, along with a captivating fire show lighting up the courtyard next to Alšova náměstí.
Local and exotic bands, children’s zone and tea room
Festival in the Streets also promises a rich musical experience. Guests can look forward to a busy international line-up featuring artists from Taiwan, Estonia, Spain, Poland, Slovakia, and many from the local scene. Flamenco lovers can enjoy a concert by Diego Guerrero, the acclaimed Spanish singer and showman nominated for a Latin Grammy. Exotic rhythms will be brought to life by bands from Southeast Asia, and Slovakian Balkansambel will energize the crowds with Balkan vibes, while local acts like Hrubá Hudba, Zooblasters, Lesní zvěř, and the vocal group Voices will showcase Czech talent.
This year, the Treasure House of Culture and the neighboring revitalized parks will host the festival’s events. Alongside the traditional main stage on Alšovo náměstí, there will also be a second stage located just in front of the Treasure. The parks will offer a large Children’s zone filled with games, competitions, and workshops, along with a calming Chill-out Zone featuring a tea room and a quiet space. At Main Street, festival-goers can explore popular lifestyle zones, a design marketplace, a children’s fair, and the gastronomic offerings within the Food Zone and Wine Festival.
