Vimperk Awaits the Festival of Friendship – Soumars Included
On Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, 2025, the town of Vimperk will host the exciting Festival of Friendship. This festival will celebrate the opening of the new Brewery Terraces, as well as the long-lasting friendship with the Bavarian town of Freyung. On Friday, June 20, the Soumar Caravan is expected to arrive in Vimperk. Anyone who wants to join the caravan can do so in Kubova Hut and take a scenic ten-kilometre hike to Vimperk along the historic Golden Trail. After the hike, attendees can enjoy a lively musical program in the town park. performances in the town park. The caravan will leave from the train station in Kubova Huta at 12:00 pm and is projected to reach Vimperk around 3 pm. From 5:00 pm, the jazz group known as Joker’s Band will perform at the Vimperk town park.
On Saturday, 21. 6. 2025 , the main events will kick off at 12:30 pm at the State Chateau Vimperk, starting with a welcome ceremony for the soumar caravans. A festive parade will then proceed to the Brewery Terraces. At the same time, the castle will be open for tours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for anyone who wishes to explore it. At 1:00 pm, the newly renovated Brewery Terraces will open, followed by various live events occurring in and around the terraces. The evening will feature a diverse lineup of music and theatre performances on the main stage, while the buildings of the General and Sports High School Vimperk will host interactive demonstrations of modern technologies combined with exciting competitions for both children and adults.
In the grassy area beside the main building of the gymnasium, the soumar camp will be established at the terraces, where there will again be craft demonstrations. The past and the present will be showcased through engaging presentations of successful projects from Czech-Bavarian cross-border cooperation, including modern technological advances—all aimed at making it entertaining for families. The Šumava NP Administration is also planning enjoyable activities centered around nature and the Bavarian Forest NP. Naturally, a variety of delicious food and drink options will be available as well.
