In the Broumov region, a standout feature is the stunning Baroque churches created in the area surrounding Broumov Abbey based on designs by Kryštof Dizenhofer and his son Kilian Ignác. These churches were constructed in a fairly short time frame from 1709 to 1743.

You’ll be able to explore the Baroque St. Procopius Church in Bezděkov nad Metují, St. Mary Magdalene in Bozanovo, St. Wenceslas in Broumov, Church of All Saints in Heřmánkovice, St. Barbara’s in Otovice, St. James the Greater in Ruprechtice, St. Margaret’s in Šonovo, St. Michael’s in Vernerovice, and St. George and St. Martin in Martínkovice.

Which churches are open this year and when?

Throughout the holiday season, you can visit various churches located around the Broumov region, many of which have been undergoing important renovations for several years. During the holiday months, these churches are typically open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In July, the churches in Bozanovo, Martínkovice, Otovice, and Šonovo will welcome visitors in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Then in the afternoons, they will be open from 14:00 to 17:00 in Broumov, Heřmánkovice, Ruprechtice, and Vernéřovice. In August, the schedule flips: the churches that were open in the morning will now be open in the afternoon. Additionally, the church in Bezděkov opens every Wednesday in July and August from 14:30 to 16:30.
