Discover Business, Tourism, and Culture: How the Czech-Swedish Chamber of Commerce Boosts Opportunities for Companies and Showcases the Czech Republic

Inception with Diplomatic Support
The Czech-Swedish Chamber of Commerce was launched as a practical platform for Czech businesses aiming to thrive in the unique and stable Nordic market. This initiative saw significant backing from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sweden, among other supports.
“The Chamber was established at a time when European companies are increasingly seeking new opportunities within the continent – and Sweden is emerging as a desirable destination. Czechia already enjoys a strong reputation here, but navigating this demanding market can be challenging for both Czech and non-Swedish firms. I believe this platform will facilitate further Czech expansion in Sweden,” notes Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Sweden, Anita Grmelová, who is also an honorary patron of this new institution.
Commerce, Culture, and Tourism
One of the Chamber’s key partners is the CzechTourism agency, which has a long-standing presence in the region.
“We are proud to be part of this significant project. The establishment of the Chamber marks a positive step in enhancing trade, cultural, and tourism relations between our countries. We anticipate many inspiring opportunities for collaboration,” emphasizes František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.
“We view the new Chamber of Commerce as a natural bridge between our countries – not just in trade, but also in tourism. Sweden presents a promising market for Czechia, with strong interest in culture, sightseeing, and authentic experiences. This collaboration will enable us to effectively engage the local audience and showcase Czechia as a destination that offers more than traditional tourist routes,” adds Lucie Vallin, Director of the CzechTourism Foreign Representation for Scandinavia.
Cultural Similarities Can Be Deceiving
The Chamber’s founder, attorney-at-law and honorary consul of the Czech Republic in Malmö, Kateřina Strömsholm, brings extensive experience in Swedish commercial law.
“Sweden and Czechia share similar business values – with a focus on accuracy, competence, thorough preparation, and trust earned through performance. However, this apparent similarity can be misleading. Subtle differences in the business environment may not be obvious at first but can significantly impact the time, costs, and overall results of a business endeavor,” she warns.
Help Built on Experience
The Chamber is led by experts with extensive professional backgrounds in Sweden, who also have insights into the Czech landscape. Its true strength lies not only in understanding the nuances between the two countries but also in offering expert knowledge across crucial sectors – from law and tax to finance, management, HR, public procurement, and sustainable business. Companies gain access to valuable experience that typically takes years to acquire, helping them avoid common pitfalls from the outset.
Among the First Members is Technology Leader LINET
The founding members include LINET, a leading Czech company recognized for its contributions to medical technology exports.
“When you, as a Czech company, start establishing your presence in Sweden, it quickly becomes clear that having a quality product is not enough. You need to understand how things operate here and access the right people and information. The Chamber’s assistance can make a substantial difference,” concludes Roman Geyer, CEO of LINET Sweden.
