Discover the Best Artists at the Třeboňská Nocturna Music Festival – Your Ultimate Escape from Boredom!
This year, Třeboň will again host many outstanding musicians. The Třeboň Nocturne festival is scheduled for July 8 – 12, 2025, and it will take place in several locations around the historical center of Třeboň, showcasing excellent music performed by famous artists. The warm, intimate environment of places like Třeboň Castle and the courtyard of the Teresian Barracks ensures that festival attendees will have an unforgettable experience every year.
With the new theme Classical music in Třeboň, Třeboň Nocturne to music, there will be a world premiere each year, specially composed for the festival. The inaugural season features works from composers such as Roman Haas, Martin Hybler, and Lukáš Hurník, who skillfully blend high-quality music with a deep appreciation for the contemporary music scene.
The festival will kick off on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, with Japanese violinist Tsukushi Sasaki, the winner of the 2024 Prague Spring International Music Competition, who will perform with the Atlantis collegium chamber orchestra. This concert will feature the premiere of Roman Haas’ composition Homage to Folk Song about Water, inspired by the picturesque pond scenery of Třeboň and elements of Czech folk music.
On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, one of the key Czech piano trios, the Smetana Trio, will perform at the J. K. Tyl Theatre. This ensemble is renowned for its emotionally nuanced performances and precise interpretations, representing Czech music on prestigious global stages.
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, attendees can enjoy two distinct musical experiences. An afternoon concert at the Church of St. Giles and Our Lady Queen will feature an organist and harpsichordist Michaela Káčerková, soprano Barbara Pernou, and oboist Vilém Veverka. Their program will include, among other pieces, a new composition by Martin Hybler. The evening concert will highlight the jazz scene, featuring pianist Emil Viklický and saxophonist Štěpán Markovič, whose performance promises to be full of spontaneity, humor, and exceptional musicianship.
On Friday, July 11, 2025, the South Bohemian Philharmonic returns with an unconventional repertoire. Under the direction of Krystof Marek, the audience will enjoy beloved melodies from musicals and films, including pieces from Jesus Christ Superstar, The English Patient, Les Misérables, and The Phantom of the Opera. Soloists for this evening will be Charlotte Režná and Pavel Režný.
The festival will conclude on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with the traditional Tribute to Emma Destinn, featuring an outstanding cast. Soprano Alžběta Poláčková, baritone Sungbin Kim, who won the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition, and the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice under the baton of Martin Leginus will present an operatic program, including yet another world premiere. The Gala Overture by Lukáš Hurník will subtly nod to the illustrious works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giacomo Puccini.
