Sky Bridge, Sky Walk, or Mammoth Bobsleigh Track at Dolní Morava
The mountain resort at Dolní Morava is renowned for its variety of attractions. Nestled at the intersection of eastern Bohemia and Moravia, close to the Polish border, this complex offers a diverse array of experiences. Among its highlights is the remarkable Sky Bridge 721, celebrated as one of the longest suspension bridges globally, which opened to the public in 2022.
In recent years, the equally impressive Sky Walk, soaring 55 meters high, has gained immense popularity. However, today, we invite you to experience something thrilling right from the ground level: the mammoth mountain bobsleigh track! Secure yourself in the bobsleigh, buckle up, and as you glide toward the starting point, take in the breathtaking vistas surrounding you. Prepare yourself for an exhilarating race down the winding course that promises an unforgettable adventure at whatever pace you prefer.
With a vertical drop of 364 meters, this bobsleigh track features 25 thrilling curves, a 360° loop 12 meters above the ground, a figure-eight loop, and an underground tunnel, with the added excitement of soaring over 4 exhilarating jumps. It holds the title of the longest track in the Czech Republic and the second-longest in Europe, with a descent stretching approximately 4 kilometers! Each bobsleigh accommodates two riders; however, if you’re over the age of 8, you have the option to take a solo ride. Enjoy the adventure!
Cable Car, Trails, and Panoramic Views at Lipno
Located in Lipno within southern Bohemia, this area is particularly famous for its winter sports offerings. However, during the summer months, it presents a multitude of attractions as well. The chairlift at Lipno Bike Park operates year-round for both hikers and bikers. This chairlift will comfortably transport you to the summit of Kramolín, where you can relish the stunning vistas of the Lipno Dam, the Šumava region, and the Novohradské Mountains.
The breathtaking perspective offered from the Treetop Walkway is simply extraordinary. A scenic off-road cycling route for bikers and a calming path for hikers that provides views of the Novohradské Mountains (Nové Hrady) and the Třeboň Basin are also available. Lipno is brimming with a variety of sports activities and entertainment options. For those seeking a bit of adrenaline, there is a rope center along with two bobsleigh tracks.
Orlické Mountains – Views and Adrenaline at Your Fingertips
The Orlické Mountains serve as a fantastic getaway for enthusiasts of active recreation. The area is dotted with lookout towers offering panoramic views of the stunning landscape in eastern Bohemia. One of the most sought-after spots is the lookout tower on Velká Deštná, which stands as the highest peak in the mountain range. Rising to 19 meters, this steel structure, with its beautiful wooden paneling, offers visitors captivating views of the extensive Rychnov region, the Stołowe (Table) Mountains, and the Bystrzyckie Mountains across the border in Poland, as well as Králický Sněžník, the Krkonoše Mountains, and Ještěd. You can also take in remarkable sights from the Šibeník lookout tower near Nové Město nad Metují or the Anna lookout tower located in Olešnice within the Orlické Mountains.
For downhill riding aficionados, the Říčky Bike Park provides several trails with varied difficulty levels, tailored for bikers. The Deštné Trail Park, boasting both naturally occurring and artificially crafted trails, along with the newly established Zdobnice Trail Park, which is also family-friendly, ensures wonderful experiences await you.
Accessible Trails in Bohemian Switzerland, Perfect for Wheelchairs
At the confluence of the Lusatian Mountains and the Bohemian Switzerland National Park in northern Bohemia, you will discover a unique, wheelchair-accessible tourist trail. This circular nature trail begins at the square in Krásná Lípa, right next to the wheelchair-friendly Dům Českého Švýcarska (House of Bohemian Switzerland) and leads toward the springs of the Křinice rivulet. Meandering around a deserted quarry, it eventually guides you to the Velký rybník (Great Pond) nature reserve. From there, you can return through serene forests and across meadows that unveil long-distance views of the Lusatian mountain ridges, eventually reaching the Krásná Lípa město train stop before returning to the square. Additionally, an extended 9-kilometer route designed for disabled access is available, featuring paved paths and easily navigable surfaces.
Pustevny, Libušín, and Valaška
The unique collection of buildings showcasing folk architecture at Pustevny in the Beskids has stood for over a century. Sadly, one of its notable structures, the Libušín Chalet, was tragically lost to a fire in 2014. A remarkable replica has since been constructed, reflecting the original colors. This new Libušín opened its doors again in the summer of 2020, inviting tourists to fully appreciate the extraordinary architecture designed by Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič.
The Pustevny mountain saddle serves as a key intersection for hiking trails, a launching point for various excursions by foot, bike, or scooter, or simply a pleasant spot for strolls along the ridge of Radhošť. The chairlift from Trojanovice provides a convenient way to reach this destination. Another key attraction at Pustevny is the impressive elevated panoramic Valaška Skywalk, featuring a glass observation deck and a 150-meter-long suspended “Himalayan” pathway.
The Beskids not only boast the beautifully restored buildings at Pustevny but also host the thrilling Boboffka bobsleigh track, located on the Malá Stolová Mountain, near the village of Čeladná. Spanning nearly a kilometer, this track is an excellent option for families, allowing children as young as 3 years old (when accompanied by an adult) to enjoy the ride, which significantly enhances its appeal. After enjoying a ride to the top, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the enchanting Beskid landscape!
Comfortably Above the Clouds in the Krkonoše Mountains
The cable car leading to Sněžka, the pinnacle of the Krkonoše Mountains, was renovated a few years back. This cableway now offers a smooth ride to the top of the highest mountain in the Czech Republic in two sections using a four-seat cable car. Do keep in mind that the operation of the second segment is weather-dependent. Nonetheless, the ascent only takes roughly 15 minutes! On clear days, the summit rewards you with stunning views. If you’re up for it, you can embark on one of the marked hiking trails leading back towards Pec pod Sněžkou, Horní Malá Úpa, and the Luční bouda chalet, continuing on towards Špindlerův Mlýn.
