Bohemia JazzFest Brings Global Jazz Icons to Brno’s Moravské náměstí

The Bohemia JazzFest was started in 2005 by the well-regarded jazz guitarist Rudy Linka. This music festival, one of Europe’s biggest summer jazz festivals, draws in thousands of fans each year to enjoy concerts in the city squares of both Czech and Moravian towns. This year, celebrating its twentieth anniversary, the festival will be returning to Brno, where it has been a regular event since 2010.

The Brno segment of the festival will kick off on Monday, July 14, at Moravské náměstí starting at 5:30 p.m., featuring the Per Mathisen Power Trio. Following them, the Austrian saxophonist Harry Sokal with the Groove Unlimited trio will take the stage. The highlight of Monday will be a performance by the Slovak blues singer Peter Lipa. On the following day, audiences can look forward to seeing one of the top Czech saxophonists, Ondřej Štveráček, with his band, as well as the high-energy Swiss trio The Next Movement, celebrated as one of the most exciting discoveries in the recent jazz landscape.

The goal of the festival is to provide a world-class cultural experience for everyone, no matter their age or social background. This is why all the concerts are free of charge.
