Children’s and Night Tours at Telč Castle
Telč Castle, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, has been meticulously rebuilt. The beautifully painted coffered ceiling in the theater hall has shone back to life, and the intricate sgraffito designs in the Hall of Feasts and the Treasury of the Old Castle, along with the Renaissance gable on the façade, have all been lovingly restored. The decoration inside the Chapel of All Saints has also been revitalized. Thanks to these renovations, visitors can now access areas that were previously off-limits, including the old castle kitchen and the brewery. A castle museum has also been added to the tour routes.
The chateau has organized an exciting range of activities for both young and old this summer. Families with children will particularly enjoy tours with the White Lady, which are set to occur on the weekend of 12-13 July 2025. The Night Tour of Zacharias’ Heir is scheduled for 18-19 July 2025.
In addition, there are other children’s tours called From Italy to Telč – in the footsteps of a cavalier, repeating on July 25-27, 2025 and August 4 and 10, 2025. These tours are designed to be interactive, allowing children to step into the roles of courtiers and learn the skills that young noblemen—known as cavaliers—had to master in the 16th century. From 25 July to 10 August 2025, the castle courtyard will also be filled each evening with folk festival concerts as part of the Holidays in Telč. This festival will have activities in various locations throughout the town, with the castle park hosting theatrical performances.
There will be many additional events happening around town during the holidays. The Retro Race featuring a vintage car show will be held from July 11-13, 2025, followed by Beer Fest and Burger Fest on July 12, 2025. The Telč Steam Summer event includes steam train rides to nearby towns on August 2-3 and August 9-10, 2025, alongside the Town Festivities in Telč occurring from 15 to 16 August 2025. Both days will feature a period fair, a historical carousel, and more at Zachariáš of Hradec Square. Furthermore, interesting insights from archaeological digs at the Telč State Chateau, which were revealed during the renovations, will be shared at the Archaeological Summer in Telč events on July 14 and August 18, 2025.
Night Tours of Lipnice Castle
The spectacular night tours at Lipnice nad Sázavou Castle are crafted to create a unique experience. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to meet the castle’s historical owners as well as the renowned Jaroslav Hašek, who is commemorating a significant anniversary this year. He takes on the role of a guide, sharing the rich history of the location where he penned his most notable work. You can expect to enjoy all of this and more between 11-12 July, 1-2 August, and 15-16 August 2025 as you embark on a fascinating journey into the intriguing past of Lipnice Castle. Be sure to book your tickets ahead of time.
Additionally, Lipnice will host several other events over the summer. On Sunday, July 20, 2025, there will be a concert featuring the Songs of the Liberated Theatre, followed by the Quijote 60 theater festival on August 8-9, 2025, and a concert by the Coventina group on August 30, 2025. Also, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, don’t miss the performance by the ensembles Ludus Musicus and Regii Caroli Regis during the Little Italian Festival.
Folk Holidays and Evening Tours in Náměšt’ nad Oslavou
Folk Holidays in Náměšt’ nad Oslavou is a beloved annual event that marks the transition of the holidays. This year, it will take place at the castle from 26 July to 2 August 2025. Many attendees will enjoy the full eight days as a vibrant celebration of music, art, and dance, engaging actively or simply soaking in the atmosphere. The 39th Folk Holiday this year carries the theme of Purity. The artists differ widely but share a common thread of genuine music that comes straight from the heart, unpretentious and sincere.
From 18 May to 2 November 2025, there’s an exhibition at Chateau Náměšt’ nad Oslavou showcasing Maestro Salieri to honor the 200th anniversary of Antonio Salieri’s passing, who was a key figure in Viennese Classical music. This project will culminate with a concert at the castle on Saturday, 20 September 2025. Evening tours featuring theater performances are planned for August 8-9, 2025. Shows will be offered at 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 pm both nights. Exulis History in Motion Theatre will present a play titled The Loves and Wrinkles of Mr. Peter Vok of Rozmberk. Reservations for the tours are highly recommended.
Folk and Film at Orlík nad Humpolecem
Orlík Castle above Humpolec is a charming ruin nestled in the forests overlooking the town of Humpolec, offering not just a glimpse into medieval history but also stunning views from the observation tower built into the castle’s original structure. On a self-guided tour, you can explore the castle museum, art gallery, tower, viewing areas, cellars, castle kitchen, and other fascinating sites.
Exciting events will also take place here during the summer. From 18 to 19 July 2025, the annual folk festival Echoes of the Holidays will be held. Furthermore, from 14 to 17 August 2025, the XXIV Film Festival Film and History will occur. On Saturday, August 2, 2025, you can enjoy stargazing with Stargazers at the Castle.
