Experience the Vibrant Pulse of Prague: Folklore Days Are Just Around the Corner

Ensembles will perform on outdoor stages located in the heart of Prague. The highlight of the festival will be the traditional Saturday parade featuring all the ensembles as they walk through the Old Town.

The festival invites various amateur folklore groups, including singing and dancing teams, majorettes, groups that dress in costumes from military history, and marching bands. This year, Prague will host folklore groups and folk orchestras from countries like Estonia, Slovakia, Austria, Latvia, Croatia, France, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Catalonia, Poland, and Morocco. Attendees can expect to see traditional outfits, market costumes, clothing for wealthy individuals, wedding dresses, ploughman, shepherd, and hunting attire. In addition, Prague will welcome different national minorities and ethnic groups, who will share the folk traditions of their respective countries.

At the outdoor areas of Prague 1, specifically Fruit Market and Square of the Republic, people will be able to enjoy performances from folklore groups, as well as listen to their traditional music. The main attraction will definitely be the dancing. The dances performed by festival participants vary greatly each year. Additionally, individual folklore groups will showcase examples of folk art from their particular country or region. The festival will reach its peak with a Saturday parade featuring all the ensembles as they stroll through the Old Town, which begins at 10:00 a.m. at Old Town Square.
