Get Ready for St. Anna! Exciting Destinations for the St. Anne’s Pilgrimage This July

Jizerka glass festivalOne of the traditional events in the Jizera Mountains is the Anenské glass festival, which takes place in the village of Jizerka; this year it’s scheduled for Saturday, July 26. As is customary, the founder of the local glassworks, F. A. Riedl, will bless the event. Attendees can look forward to sales, glassmaking demonstrations, and other traditional crafts , performances by folkloric groups, dance competitions, woodworking contests, children’s activities, puppet shows, gemstone panning, and even a ski relay.

Since parking at Jizerka is reserved for guests only, a shuttle service will be available from Kořenov and Horní Polubný to help visitors get there.

Anenské pilgrimage in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm

The Annen Pilgrimage will also take place at the Wooden Town, located within the Wallachian Museum of Nature in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. This celebration honors St. Anne, who is the beloved patron saint of Wallachia, and will include a costumed parade and a folk fair on Sunday, July 27. A full day of folk festivities is planned, featuring fair goods, historic carousels, and swings, while a spiritual program will kick off with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of All Saints in Rožnov.

One hour later, there will be a costumed procession with music that will make its way through the town and culminate in front of the Church of St. Anne at the Wooden Town, where they will hold the Litany of St. Anne followed by a sung prayer called Angel of the Lord.

St. John’s Day celebrations in four cities

Every summer, one of the major highlights in Horšovský Týn is the town festival and Anenské pilgrimage; this year, it will take place from Wednesday, July 23 to Sunday, July 27. The town square will be alive with a musical program and an old Bohemian fair featuring demonstrations of ancient crafts, medieval music, jugglers, theatre performances, film screenings, a shooting competition, and a livestock exhibition. Additionally, the festivities will feature a Pilgrimage Mass at St. Anne’s Church at Vršíček near Horšovský Týn, and there will be opportunities for tours of the local castle.

On Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, the Annen Pilgrimage will also be happening in the Old Town near Králický Sněžník. Expect the town to be bustling with fairground stalls and an eclectic mix of music.

mnichovo hradiště pilgrimageTraditional Annen Fair will also take place in Rokytnice v Orlických horách, specifically from July 25 to July 27 2025. Visitors can expect a historic marketplace, sales stalls, exciting fairground attractions, musical performances, and numerous activities throughout Rokytnice. There will be several masses, theatre performances for children, exhibitions, competitions, and displays of traditional crafts.

In addition, the Annen Pilgrimage will occur in Mnichovo Hradiště starting on Friday, July 25 and continuing until Sunday, July 27, 2025. This event attracts many visitors and will showcase a variety of modern and traditional fairground attractions, swings, rides, and plenty of tempting sweets from the fair.

St. John’s Day Fair in Žirč and Boží Dar

The Church of St. Anne, known for its distinctive chimes, is part of the Baroque complex in Žirč, located near Dvůr Králové nad Labem. This noteworthy site is conveniently located between Dvůr Zoo and the Baroque hospital Kuks and offers tours of its herb garden, as well as homemade syrups in the Damián Herb Café. Visitors can also explore the interiors of St. Joseph’s Home, where assistance is provided for patients with multiple sclerosis. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, the St. John’s Garden Festival will be hosted in Žirč, offering a cultural program across three stages and a folk crafts market featuring presentations from sheltered workshops.

Meanwhile, the St. John’s Day Pilgrimage will take place in the mountain village of Boží Dar on Saturday, July 26, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
