Buchlov Castle Welcomes You to Spooky Evening Tours

Some locations are known for their ghostly inhabitants like the White Lady and the Black Lady, such as at Buchlov Castle. This year, you can experience Night Tours with the Black Lady, which feature traditional storytelling with a program that includes entertainment in the courtyard and an exciting fire show, scheduled for 25 and 26 July 2025. The event will showcase various performances depicting the lives of the castle’s lords and ladies, including fencing, dancing, and the fire spectacle.

Buchlov Castle is recognized as a spot haunted by spirits; many gather here, especially in a chamber filled with skulls, mummies, and portraits of the deceased—this is the infamous haunted room. Among the spirits, one is particularly notable: the Black Lady of Buchlov, who is often described as wearing either white or black. Some tales portray her as malevolent, while others depict her as a gentle presence gliding through the air. What remains certain is that her appearance is a sign of impending death.

Approximately one hundred performers will be working to depict various aspects of the castle’s rich history through the unique Buchlov tales and animated paintings. In the ballroom, you’ll witness Renaissance dances at a magnificent banquet, while the castle chapel will resonate with the sounds of medieval chants. In the Knights’ Hall, you can expect to see epic battles for honor and camaraderie unfold.

Additionally, expect romantic tales of love both fulfilled and unfulfilled, as well as a variety of other amusing and serious accounts that the ancient castle’s residents might have encountered. This year in the castle courtyards, get ready to enjoy a brand-new fire show and a fresh fencing performance. Although the castle grounds will be free for everyone to explore, remember that tickets for the tours must be booked in advance.
