Velhartice, Bušek, Karel IV and Beyond!

Experience a lively medieval castle along with military tent gatherings set against the castle walls. You’ll be able to enjoy knight tournaments, farming activities, demonstrations of medieval medical tools, cooking from the period, displays of weaponry, craft demonstrations, archery lessons, parades featuring nobles and their entourages, and insightful talks. All of these activities will be part of the weekend event called Shields of the Silver Lion, happening at Velhartice Castle.Similar to other towns, Velhartice Castle features an older medieval section and a newer, late Renaissance part. This castle complex is truly one-of-a-kind in Central Europe. It includes alarge stone bridge that links the Gothic palace with the residential defensive tower calledPutnou. This impressive bridge, with its four arches supported by large cylindrical pillars, is 32 meters long and 10 meters high, and it is only accessible via drawbridges connecting it to buildings on both sides.
